Enrique warns Roma about Siena

Luis Enrique is expecting a tough trip to Siena on Monday and welcomes back Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, but notes “Roma will always play on the attack.”

The Giallorossi scraped a 1-1 draw with Siena at the Olimpico earlier this season and have struggled on their travels, most recently beaten 4-2 at Cagliari.

“I remember Siena played at a very high level and we were fortunate to get a draw out of it,” said the Spaniard in his press conference.

“Now I expect a tough game, as always, because every opponent has their own qualities and strengths. We’re going to Siena with the right mentality to play the right game.

“The Tuscans have many players who can cause us problems, like Mattia Destro, Emanuele Calaiò and Gaetano D’Agostino. You can see the work of their Coach, as they are tight and effective on the counter-attack.

“I can assure you that Roma will always play on the attack, as that is the most important thing for me. Then, of course, there are different variations we can adopt within that approach.

“I think Osvaldo will be able to play, although there are always risks when a player returns after a long lay-off and naturally he is not at 100 per cent.”

In the meantime, Osvaldo has been replaced by Fabio Borini or Bojan Krkic, while Erik Lamela has become a key figure for Roma.

“I am very happy with my players. The media seem to think Borini is a God at the moment while Lamela isn’t doing as well, but I believe the opposite,” noted Enrique.

“Every player goes through phases in a campaign. I don’t think Borini is a God now, nor was he a disaster beforehand. The same is true of Lamela.”

There are doubts as to whether this match will go ahead as planned at 19.45 UK time or be moved forward due to heavy snow in the area.

“It is a little strange that the decision hasn’t been made quicker. We must first of all think about the safety of the players and fans.”
