Pioli's 'perfect performance'

Stefano Pioli reveals how he approached Inter tactically with “a practically perfect performance” for Bologna’s amazing win.

“It was clearly a deserved victory and we approached it the way we wanted to. In other occasions we played well, but didn’t get the result,” said the Coach of tonight’s 3-0 triumph.

“The fact we won 3-0 at San Siro suggests it was practically a perfect performance. I wanted to give the side a signal that for our characteristics we don’t want to sit back and defend, as we have forward players of such quality that we can afford to run a few risks.

“I chose some creative midfielders in order to find space between the Inter lines. This is a very important win for our position in the table and there are some head-to-head battles coming up.

“This was a wonderful evening, but from tomorrow we have to focus on the next games. There’s a long way to go.

“It cannot be considered a ‘normal’ night, as you don’t often come to San Siro and play this well to get a victory. However, our objective is to reach 40 points and I hope this will give us extra enthusiasm.”
