De Sanctis only fears Spanish duo

Only Barcelona and Real Madrid are better than Napoli in the Champions League, says Morgan De Sanctis.

The goalkeeper made the claim to Sky Sport Italia last night following their 3-1 first leg win over Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League.

“We believe that only Barcelona and Real Madrid are superior to us in the competition,” the veteran noted. “We are aware that we are on a par with everyone else.”

The Stadio San Paolo outfit came from a goal down last night to collect what will be a memorable victory, but the Italian international is remaining cautious ahead of the return.

“We’re happy with the display, but not too happy as we could have ended the tie there and then,” he added. “Now we have to go to London.

“Let us say that we have a 51 per cent chance of getting through because we know the strength of Chelsea and their champions.

“But we are hopeful when we consider how well we played and our ability to hit teams on the counter-attack.”

Ezequiel Lavezzi, with a brace, and Edinson Cavani were the goal heroes in Naples on Tuesday.

“They are players who make our fortune,” added the former Udinese custodian. “Yet they are supported by a team who put them in the best position to show their quality.

“They are the players, along with Marek Hamsik and Goran Pandev, who allow us to take a step up to the next level.”
