Roma confirm Borini deal

A day after making his debut for the Italian national team, Fabio Borini has received another boost, as Roma confirm he stays with them for another year.

Borini was originally signed from Parma on a 12-month loan deal last summer, whilst the Giallorossi turned that into a co-ownership agreement in January.

Last month saw the capital club announce their intention to hold on to the player beyond the summer, but uncertainty still surrounded his destination come the summer.

However, after meeting with Parma’s general manager at the recent League encounter between the two clubs, where Borini scored the only goal of the game, Roma have confirmed that they have agreed to keep the 20-year-old for 2012-13.

“He made his mark, that is for sure,” commented Walter Sabatini on Thursday, when asked of Borini’s impression in his international debut against the US.

“He does so all day every day at Trigoria and on Sundays for Roma.

“We are delighted with his approach. Luis Enrique has done a great job, he has turned him from a possibility into a certainty.

“Will he remain at Roma? Of course. We are co-owners with Parma and we agreed with Pietro Leonardi to renew that agreement in June, then we will discuss it next year.”

Since the turn of the year, the former Bologna and Chelsea youth player has scored seven goals in all competitions for the Giallorossi.
