Time for change at Inter, says Ferri

An era has come to an end at Inter following their Champions League exit, says former defender Riccardo Ferri.

The Nerazzurri will conclude the season empty-handed after a difficult campaign and last night’s elimination against Marseille was proof that changes are needed at the club.

“All of the favourites for the Champions League have more at their disposal than Inter,” the 48-year-old told Radio Sportiva.

“Inter now have to look to the future. It won’t be easy to rebuild, but they have to get back to the level that a team such as Inter should be competing at.”

Asked how the club should remodel the team, the former Sampdoria and Italian international stopper said work was needed in the transfer market.

“Inter’s future could be a team of youngsters mixed in with a few more experienced players,” he continued.

“Cycles in football come to an end and gratitude must remain, but the faces need to change…”

Inter have an eight-point deficit in Serie A to make up if they want to qualify for the Champions League again next season.
