Napoli fans have invaded London for tonight’s match with Chelsea, as reportedly as many as 5,000 have flown in for the event.
The number of tickets officially sold to travelling fans for the Champions League tie is 2,700, but sources in the Italian media expect as many as double that figure.
There is also a huge community of Neapolitans in London who will be in cafes and restaurants around Stamford Bridge to be ‘closer to the action’ even if they don’t have tickets.
Many are communicating via Twitter using the hashtag #napolialondra (Napoli in London) and it’s rumoured ticket touts are asking for £600 in the hours leading up to the big game.
Napoli warned fans not to travel without a ticket, but many thousands have ignored that call and want to be close to the team for a potentially historic night.
They lead 3-1 from the first leg and hope to reach the Champions League quarter-finals. It kicks off at 19.45 UK time.
Some supporters include Rosario from New York, who appears to have created a new hybrid language of English and Neapolitan dialect!
