Maggio: 'Napoli are better than Milan'

Christian Maggio is confident in Napoli's Scudetto ambitions. “We can't wait to play Milan, as in my view we're the stronger team.”

The Partenopei are in second place and just three points adrift of the Serie A leaders, though the club has been eager to play down title talk.

“We can't wait to play Milan,” grinned Maggio of the big trip to San Siro on Monday February 28.

“The Rossoneri have players of great quality, but we are no worse. In fact, in my view we're the stronger team.

“Before that game, we have to focus on Villarreal and the Europa League. We want to go far in Europe and our strength has been taking it one match at a time without calculations.”

Inter were closing down on the top two in Serie A, but fell to a 1-0 defeat against Juventus.

“It's too early to say who the other rivals for the Scudetto are, but I can say I was happy Inter lost. A win against Juve would've got them too close to us.

“There is great satisfaction and enthusiasm around Napoli. It's so wonderful to see our fans waiting until the early hours of the morning to celebrate with us.

“It's my third season at Napoli and I've seen everything, but the warmth of the fans is indescribable. They're right to be enthusiastic, as we have big ambitions.”
