Malesani prepares Bologna party

Alberto Malesani feels Bologna can “celebrate safety” with a victory over Genoa in front of their home fans.

The Felsinei were expected to go down after a season wracked by potential bankruptcy and a three-point penalty for financial irregularities, but find themselves in joint 10th place.

“This can be the game where we secure our Serie A status and celebrate safety,” said the Coach.

“Meanwhile, Genoa would consider a victory to be their chance of recovering from a position in the table they weren't expecting at the start of the season.

“It will be a tactical battle and one of spirit, while physical and psychological form will make a big difference.

“Davide Ballardini has a system that defends well, runs few risks and likes to go with cross-field passes. They are a solid team.”

Even a draw would take Bologna to the famous 40-point mark that many believe secures Serie A safety.

“The support of our fans will be crucial,” continued Malesani. “The city has not forgotten what these lads did during a troubled campaign. It would be wonderful to celebrate alongside our supporters.

“The players really can't wait to get out there and it's a good sign. Nobody is giving up, not even those who haven't played that much so far.”

Albin Ekdal, Archimede Morleo, Gyorgy Garics and Massimo Mutarelli are out of this match.
