Giovanni Trapattoni is impressed with Serie A this season, “I see myself in Walter Mazzarri,” but has advice for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“Of course Napoli are right to believe in the Scudetto,” the Republic of Ireland manager told Il Mattino newspaper.
“Napoli are having an extraordinary campaign and play spectacular football. The secret is to keep a cool head, because the last six rounds are a world apart. They must turn that enthusiasm into an extra weapon.
“Milan have experience and also a more rounded squad. I think this season Serie A has been very interesting and the quality level is certainly high.
“I see myself in Mazzarri, as he is very much like me in terms of personality. He's volcanic, dynamic and more effusive. Massimiliano Allegri is calmer and manifests his personality in a different way.
“They are among the best Italian Coaches and it's no coincidence they are topping the table.”
Trap also gave his view on the players making the headlines in Serie A this season.
“Edinson Cavani is a real champion, both in terms of his performances and his behaviour. When he scored a goal for Uruguay against my Ireland team, he was very nice and kind towards me.
“That gentle and polite soul is his true strength. He reminds me of Michel Platini, who I worked with at Juventus, and before then Roberto Bettega.”
Ibrahimovic cannot boast such a reputation, especially after picking up another three-match ban for insulting the assistant referee.
“I won't get into specifics, but in general a great player like Ibra should be able to handle his emotions on the field,” continued Trapattoni.
“If Diego Armando Maradona had reacted to all the tough tackles he received, then he would've been sent off in every game.”
