Fiorentina plan overhaul

Fiorentina are preparing to let Alberto Gilardino, Riccardo Montolivo and Juan Manuel Vargas leave in the summer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Fiorentina director of sport Pantaleo Corvino recognises that it's time for a change, if not a revolution.

“The cycle started in 2005, which saw us become protagonists in Italy and in Europe is over,” he said. “Now we would like to start another one.”

Corvino's aim is to bring about a change without causing a drop in quality.

Gilardino has a contract until June 2013 and although he isn't dying to leave Florence, the club feel that now is the best time to cash in on his value and focus on a younger striker.

Juventus, Marseille and Lyon are said to be interested in the Italy international, who Fiorentina hope to sell for between €12m and €15m.

By now Fiorentina are also resigned to the fact that Vargas would like to leave, especially amid interest from Premier League side Liverpool.

Corvino will entertain offers in excess of €10m.

As for Montolivo, his agent recently encouraged clubs to make inquiries about his client, who is considering his options at the Artemio Franchi.

Montolivo stalled on signing a new contract earlier this season and is said to be in Juventus' sights ahead of next season.
