Deschamps opens Roma door

Marseille boss Didier Deschamps is willing to consider a switch to Roma, reports the Corriere dello Sport.

The Giallorossi are pondering their coaching options for next season and Deschamps is understood to be a contender.

New Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has reportedly made contact with the former Juventus midfielder and Coach.

Deschamps is eager for a second managerial spell in the peninsula, but he does have another year to run on his contract with Marseille.

The former France captain, who led Juventus to promotion in their 2006-07 Serie B campaign, is now expected to hold talks with his Ligue 1 club.

The man who has also been linked with Chelsea will again then hold discussions with Sabatini.

The latter is understood to be exploring five coaching possibilities for next term and he spoke with Chievo boss Stefano Pioli on Friday.

Vincenzo Montella is the current Roma tactician and he hasn't given up hope of remaining in place for next term.

Montella was appointed in February after Claudio Ranieri resigned following a shock 4-3 loss at Genoa.
