Santon prepares for Inter exit

Inter youngster Davide Santon has suggested that he will spend next season on loan at a smaller club.

The Italian international is coming towards the end of a six month temporary spell at Cesena after failing to break into the Nerazzurri side.

Although he doesn't know what his future yet holds, he has indicated that he won't be playing for the San Siro outfit in 2011-12.

"I really don't know what will happen yet," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday. "I'll start pre-season with Inter and then we'll make a decision together.

"I'm like any other footballer in that I don't like to be stuck on the bench," the Under-21 international captain continued.

"I need to play games and I'd prefer to have a season where I am a regular starter in the first XI.

"My objective is to have a good campaign and then hopefully return to Inter as a protagonist.

"It's now up to me to demonstrate that I am worthy of Inter. That is the aim and I believe that I can do that."

The full-back, born in January 1991, was given his first chance by previous Inter boss Jose Mourinho in 2008-09.

Nevertheless, his second season proved to be more problematic and a knee meniscus injury picked up early in the campaign affected his performances.

Santon has 11 Under-21 caps and eight full Italy caps.
