Inter could appoint their new Coach today and it is expected to be Gian Piero Gasperini.
The Nerazzurri have been in extensive talks with the tactician for the last 48 hours after a number of other Coaches turned them down.
Unless there are any dramatic late developments, the man sacked by Genoa this season will sign a one-year contract with an option for a second.
Reports suggest he will earn around €1.5m per campaign after tax should he put pen to paper on a San Siro contract.
Inter turned to Gasperini after their attempts to net Marcelo Bielsa, Fabio Capello and Sinisa Mihajlovic failed.
They were interested in Andre Villas Boas before his move to Chelsea, but refused to pay Porto his €15m release fee.
Gasperini will replace Leonardo at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza after it was confirmed that he would be joining Paris Saint-Germain.
"He is going to be the sporting director," Paris Saint-Germain President Robin Leproux told L'Equipe.
"Everyone knows Leonardo and he has had a significant dimension and career," he continued of the former PSG player.
"I am convinced that he will know how to adapt to PSG's structure to accelerate the development and the sporting strategy of the club."
Inter will be Gasperini's biggest coaching challenge. He started his bench career with the Juventus youth side, before three years at Crotone and four at Genoa.
