Vidal snubbed Bayern option

Bayern Munich claim that Arturo Vidal had agreed to join them before instead opting for Juventus.

Vidal's switch to the Old Lady is expected to be made official in the next 48 hours after terms were agreed with Bayer Leverkusen and the player.

However, the move has come as a surprise to Bayern Munich chief Uli Hoeness. "Vidal has broken his word," he told Bild.

"I always thought that with this kind of transfer, the odds were below 50 per cent. I thought if it works, it's good. If not, then it's OK."

The German newspaper claims that the 24-year-old also had a telephone conversation with Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes, a man who worked with the Chilean at Bayer last term.

Heynckes was confident that the central midfielder would arrive at Bayern either this summer or next after that call.

Vidal, who had a year left on his Leverkusen contract, will cost Juve around €10.5m.

Reports in Italy this evening claim he will have his medical in Turin on Friday and could be presented to the media on Saturday.
