Gasp stops Inter transfer talk

Gian Piero Gasperini faces Celtic and Manchester City this weekend, but calmed gossip. “We're not going to weaken Inter or talk transfers.”

The Nerazzurri are in Ireland for the Dublin Super Cup, which will see them play Celtic tomorrow and Roberto Mancini's side on Sunday, but many have taken this as the perfect opportunity to discuss a Carlos Tevez-Samuel Eto'o exchange.

“We are going to talk about football with Manchester City, but it's not mandatory to discuss transfers. I understand the media interest in this, but we are here to prepare for the games,” said Gasperini in his Press conference.

“Tevez? When talking about great players it is normal to mention big clubs. There will be many rumours until August 31, but then just one truth. Tevez is a City player and the others in the news belong to Inter.

“Wesley Sneijder is here, Eto'o is here, we are preparing for the Italian Super Cup in Beijing. Inter are a great side because of our champions. Sneijder can play in any tactical system with different duties and is doing very well.

“What I can assure is that we're not going to weaken Inter. Quite aside from the transfer moves, Inter will be a stronger team at the end of it, so I am very relaxed.”

Although the Nerazzurri will face Celtic on Saturday, the focus is already on Sunday's match against Mancini's City.

“He wrote an important chapter in the Inter history books, winning with this club and continuing to do very well with City. I respect him and hope to have the same success he had with Inter,” concluded Gasperini.
