Serie B appeal to Government

An appeal from five clubs has been sent to the Italian Government in a bid to resolve the chaos around Serie B, but Virtus Entella wouldn’t sign it.

The situation is reaching critical point after a series of conflicting and contradictory legal rulings.

This chaos erupted over the summer when Avellino, Bari and Cesena went bankrupt, but rather than replace them with sides from Serie C, the FIGC and Lega Serie B opted to simply reduce the division to 19 clubs.

Pressure mounts on Di Francesco

Roma President James Pallotta is said to be increasingly unhappy with the start to the season, putting Coach Eusebio Di Francesco under pressure.

The Giallorossi blew a 2-0 lead at home to Chievo yesterday, and have won only once in their first four Serie A games.

According to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport, there is no immediate cause for alarm but Di Francesco will be kept “under observation” for the next round of matches: Real Madrid, Bologna, Frosinone and Lazio.

EDF: 'Roma didn't kill Chievo off'

Eusebio Di Francesco confessed “the worst thing you can do is think you’re in control and not finish it off” after Roma’s 2-2 draw with Chievo.

It was another disappointing result for the Giallorossi, who have just two points from the last three rounds.

Above all, it was a wasted opportunity, throwing away a 2-0 lead for 2-2 and very nearly losing with the last kick of the game.

D'Anna: 'Chievo didn't lose heads'

Lorenzo D’Anna praised Chievo for “not losing our heads” at 2-0 down, as they fought back to hold Roma and very nearly won it.

The Flying Donkeys were 2-0 down, but clawed back a draw at the Olimpico and would’ve won it with the last kick of the game had Robin Olsen not fingertipped the Emanuele Giaccherini curler on to the crossbar.
