Roma have Pioli deadline

Stefano Pioli has warned Roma that he will have to consider other job offers if they don't get back to him by a deadline he has imposed.

Pioli left Chievo last week and he's one of numerous people who have been interviewed by new Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini.

"I gave Sabatini a precise date," Pioli told Radio Mana Mana on Monday. "I will wait for him until then, but it is then clear that I'll need to make a decision.

Pioli leaves Chievo Verona

Stefano Pioli is no longer the Coach of Chievo Verona after holding talks with the club on Thursday.

The two parties had the option to extend his contract by a year this summer after the club survived the drop.

However, Chievo and Pioli mutually agreed to leave each other after just 12 months together at the Stadio Bentegodi.

Pioli, who has previously bossed the likes of Parma, Grosseto and Piacenza in the past, has been linked with a move to Roma.

He met new Giallorossi sporting director Walter Sabatini last Friday.

Chievo have officially completed the signature of Kevin Constant, who had spent this season on loan at the Bentegodi.

The 24-year-old French-born Guinean midfielder has been a big success in his debut Serie A season.

After two goals in 32 appearances, Chievo announced today that they have taken up their option to buy him on a permanent basis from Chateauroux.

“I am very happy. This was my first experience in Italy and a very positive one,” said Constant.

Sorrentino awaits big offer

Stefano Sorrentino has stated that only an offer from a big club will tempt him away from Chievo during the summer.

"I have a contract until 2013 and, as it stands, I should stay at Chievo," the goalkeeper told Radio CRC.

"However, it is clear that I'd like to experience an adventure with an important club," he continued.

"Last year I had the chance to go and play for a number of sides, but in the end I remained at Chievo.

Safe with any Coach

As Chievo start plans for their 10th season in Serie A, Rob Paton takes a closer look at whether Stefano Pioli will still be the Coach

Even as Udinese left the Stadio Bentegodi with the points, attention for Chievo and their fans has been on off-the-field matters amid uncertainty over Coach Stefano Pioli's future.

Arriving off the back of bringing minnows Sassuolo into the Serie B play-offs, Pioli has been able to further not only his reputation as an up-and-coming tactician, but the Flying Donkeys' progression in their second stint in Serie A.

If Muslera leaves Lazio...

Stefano Sorrentino and Federico Marchetti could be targeted by Lazio over the summer, reports are suggesting.

The capital club may decide to sign a new 'keeper as contract talks with current No 1 Fernando Muslera have stalled.

The Uruguayan is ready to pen a new deal with the Stadio Olimpico outfit, but he wants an increase in salary.

Given that Muslera's present agreement expires in 2012, Lazio may wish to sell now rather than risk losing him for nothing next year.

New deal for Luciano

Chievo will reward midfield veteran Luciano with a new one-year contract after the club ensured Serie A survival.

The Brazilian midfielder has had a problematic campaign at the Bentegodi where he has struggled for form and fitness.

Nevertheless, Chievo look set to hand him a new deal for the 2011-12 season where avoiding relegation will again be the objective.

Luciano has only played four Serie A games this season, totalling just 212 minutes in the Italian top flight.

Napoli appeal Cavani ban

Napoli have announced they will appeal against Edinson Cavani's three-match ban. “He was not insolent towards the referee.”

The striker was sent off for a second bookable offence during the 2-1 defeat to Lecce on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season if the ban is upheld.

“Napoli will lodge an appeal,” club lawyer Mattia Grassani told Radio Crc.

Chievo boss Stefano Pioli is a proud man this morning after his side ensured their top-flight status with a draw at Juventus.

"This is my most satisfying moment as a Coach," he stated. "I thank the players for putting themselves at my disposal and the club for putting us in excellent working conditions.
