Pioli: 'Robinho evidently handled'

Stefano Pioli protested at an “evident handling offence” from Robinho on a goal that sank Chievo.

Milan won 2-1 at the Bentegodi, but the deadlock was broken by Robinho controlling the ball with his arm to fire in.

“It was an evident handling offence. I had a clear view from the bench and saw it straight away,” shrugged the Flying Donkeys Coach.

“The shame is that the referee was also perfectly placed to see it. It was a clear mistake and you can see the defenders stopped too as they appealed for the free kick.

Pioli demands super Chievo

Chievo boss Stefano Pioli concedes that his side will need to put in a "super" performance if they are to stop Milan.

The Veronese outfit entertain the Rossoneri at the Bentegodi this weekend in a game that the tactician knows will be difficult.

"On paper, we should lose this one but games always begin at 0-0, 11 against 11, and we are determined to play our cards," he noted.

"Milan are not top of the table by chance. They have the best defence and the best attack, they deserve their position in the standings.

Mazzarri: 'Napoli learn from defeat'

Napoli crumbled at Chievo and wasted the chance to close on leaders Milan. “We have to learn from this defeat,” said Coach Walter Mazzarri.

The Partenopei could've closed the gap at the top of the table to just two points with a win this evening, but fell 2-0 at the Bentegodi.

“It was a bad day and too many players didn't perform the way they usually do,” sighed the tactician.

“We knew that Chievo would make this a very athletic and intense encounter, putting pressure on us to then go on the counter.

Genoa consider Sorrentino bid

Genoa's search for a goalkeeper could end with a bid for Chievo's Stefano Sorrentino.

The club has lost faith in summer signing Eduardo after his latest howler against Udinese.

Genoa have been strongly linked with Federico Marchetti, but a deal has yet to materialise.

The Grifone had been close to bringing in Sorrentino in the summer only to be wowed by Eduardo's performances for Portugal at the World Cup.

Reports in Italy suggest Genoa have inquired about Sorrentino's availability.

Coppa: Miccoli cuts down Chievo

Palermo are through to the Coppa Italia quarter-finals after beating Chievo 1-0, having rattled the woodwork three times.

These two sides had also met in Serie A on Sunday, a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Bentegodi, but they crossed paths again in Sicily this afternoon.

Both sides threatened to break the deadlock with Salvatore Sirigu parrying efforts from Bojan Jokic and Davide Moscardelli.

At the other end, Lorenzo Squizzi kept out Fabrizio Miccoli's free kick and thanked Simone Bentivoglio for a goalline clearance to deny Cesare Bovo.

Rossi slams 'terrible Bentegodi pitch'

Palermo Coach Delio Rossi has voiced his concern about facing Chievo in Serie A and the Coppa Italia. “The Bentegodi pitch is terrible.”

The Rosanero take on Chievo this afternoon and again on Wednesday, as the two have been paired in the Cup.

“They are decisive matches and very close together, which is why I'm disappointed by injuries,” said the tactician.

Dorin Goian, Abel Hernandez and Mauricio Pinilla are out of action with Fabrizio Miccoli also a risk after a calf problem in training.

Inter and Milan in talks for Constant

Chievo's versatile midfielder Kevin Constant claims both Inter and Milan are interested in signing him.

The 23-year-old has proven a revelation so far this season following his move from Chateauroux.

Earlier this week, Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri admitted that he would like to bring Constant to the club, but "bureaucratic question" are hampering negotiations.

Chievo have asked that Milan loan Constant back to them for the rest of the season, something which doesn't suit Allegri's plans, as he needs a midfielder now.

Both Milan clubs are vying to sign Chievo midfield playmaker Kevin Constant, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Milan are said to be very keen on Constant, but Inter apparently have the edge.

“You don't stay in Serie A for long if you don't have certain qualities. It will take the best Juventus to bring home the three points.
