Roma’s search for a director of sport continues, sources tell Football Italia, as Michael Emenalo and Jonas Boldt are not in the running.

There had been reports in the Corriere dello Sport yesterday that former Chelsea chief Emenalo was a strong candidate, but our sources now insist there was never even a meeting.

Roma close on director Boldt

Roma have reportedly chosen their new director of sport, planning another meeting with Hamburg chief Jonas Boldt.

According to Sport1 and ASRomaPress, an initial encounter with Boldt proved to impress the Giallorossi.

Club owners The Friedkin Group therefore want to have their representatives meet with the 38-year-old German too.

Marc Watts is expected to take part in the meeting next week, suggesting Boldt is closing on the role.

Official: Sassuolo sell Letschert

Sassuolo have officially sold defender Timo Letschert to German club Hamburg.

The 26-year-old Dutchman was bought by Sassuolo in 2016 for €3.5m, but never really made his mark in Italy.

He was loaned back to his old club FC Utrecht last season and has now been sold to HSV.

Letschert also played for the Ajax youth academy, Heerenveen, FC Groningen and Roda JC.

Official: Sampdoria sign Ekdal

Sampdoria have officially signed Sweden international midfielder Albin Ekdal from Hamburger SV.

The player’s contract has been deposited with the Lega Serie A this afternoon.

He already passed his medical and the deal was believed to be worth €2.5m plus another €300,000 in performance-related bonuses.

It is a return to Serie A for the 29-year-old, who already played for Juventus, Siena, Bologna and Cagliari.

Ekdal moved to Hamburg in 2015 for €4.5m.

Ekdal flies in for Sampdoria

Sampdoria have struck a deal with Hamburger SV for Albin Ekdal and the midfielder is expected to have his medical tomorrow.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the details were finalised this evening and the Sweden international is already en route to Genoa.

It’s a permanent transfer worth €2.5m plus bonuses.

This is a return to Serie A for Ekdal, who already played for Juventus, Bologna and Cagliari.

Ekdal on verge for Sampdoria

Albin Ekdal is on the verge of completing his €2m move to Sampdoria, as Hamburger SV confirmed “the player has asked to leave.”

The 29-year-old Sweden international is only under contract until June 2019.

“The situation with Albin is clear: the player has asked to leave,” declared Hamburg director of sport Ralf Becker in a Press conference.

Sky Sport Italia, La Gazzetta dello Sport and others are also confident he’ll have a medical with Sampdoria on Monday or Tuesday.

Halilovic: ‘Milan an honour’

Alen Halilovic says “it’s an honour to wear this shirt” as he’s officially presented as a Milan player.

The Croatian international has signed on a free transfer from Hamburg, joining on a three year contract.

“Ciao to all the Rossoneri fans,” Halilovic began in his presentation Press conference.

Official: Halilovic signs for Milan

Milan have officially signed Alen Halilovic from Hamburger SV on a contract to June 2021.

The announcement was made on the club website, although his contract had already appeared on the Lega Serie A website on Tuesday.

The Croatian seems to be a free agent, although the statement from Milan gave very few details other than the length of the contract.

He is a 22-year-old creative midfielder with nine senior caps for his country.

Milan have deposited Alen Halilovic’s contract with the Lega Serie A, as he joins on a free transfer from Hamburg.

The Croatian surprisingly arrived for a medical last week, and it was confirmed that his agent was working on cancelling his contract with the German club.

That has been successful, as the Lega Serie A’s official website has confirmed that Halilovic’s contract has been deposited, and that he joins on a free transfer.

Halilovic set to sign for Milan?

Alen Halilovic is reportedly on the verge of completing a free transfer to Milan and will sign a three-year contract.

The 22-year-old currently remains a Hamburg player, but his representatives are confident of doing a deal with the German club that will see him become a free agent.

Halilovic spent last season on loan at Spanish side Las Palmas, during which time his parent club were relegated from the Bundesliga for the first time in their history.

As such, they are looking to free up their wage bill as they adjust to life outside the top-flight.
