Coppa: Storari saves Cagliari

Marco Storari was the hero as Cagliari beat Trapani on penalties, but Frosinone crash out of the Coppa Italia.

Earlier today, Empoli joined Bologna in crashing out of the competition, as top flight sides fell to lower League opposition.

In the early evening fixture, Sassuolo emerged victorious from the local derby with Modena, and will now face Cagliari in the next round.

The Neroverdi opted not to start with new signing Gregoire Defrel, but Domenico Berardi was deployed from the first minute.

Storari: 'Why I chose Cagliari'

Marco Storari explains why he left Juventus to join Cagliari in Serie B. “I found everything to convince me.”

The 38-year-old goalkeeper had been in Turin since 2010, winning four consecutive Scudetto titles, but wanted a new challenge.

“To those who over the last few days were astonished by my decision to go into Serie B, I feel the need to point out that it’s not the League that counts,” wrote Storari on Instagram.

Official: Cagliari sign Storari

Cagliari have officially announced the signing of Juventus goalkeeper Marco Storari on a two-year deal.

It was revealed yesterday that a deal between the clubs was close, with former Fiorentina man Norberto Neto expected to replace him as Gigi Buffon’s understudy in Turin.

“Cagliari Calcio announces that it has reached an agreement with Juventus for the permanent transfer of the player Marco Storari,” the Isolani confirmed in a statement.

Storari out, Neto in?

Juventus are reportedly close to changing their reserve goalkeeper, with Marco Storari heading to Cagliari and Neto arriving from Fiorentina. 

Calciomercato.com has reported that Storari is on the verge of leaving Turin after five years with the Bianconeri, to join recently relegated Cagliari.

The outlet believes that the 38-year-old has said yes to the Sardinian side’s proposal, which is for a two-year deal worth €700,000 per season.

Storari in plane drama

Juventus goalkeeper Marco Storari revealed his anxiety after being involved in an emergency plane landing.

The shot-stopper had returned from the Champions League Final in Berlin on Saturday and was heading out on vacation to Catania with his family on Sunday evening.

He was on the Blue Air Boeing 737 that hit the headlines, as a tyre exploded during take-off from Turin’s Caselle Airport.

Juventus, Lazio back three for Coppa?

Both sides look set to deploy a back-three in tonight's Coppa Italia final between Juventus and Lazio.

Juventus Coach Massimiliano Allegri reveals he will not field a 3-5-2 in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia semi-final with Fiorentina.

Storari: ‘Buffon is the best’

Marco Storari believes Gigi Buffon is still the best goalkeeper in the world, and discusses Juventus’ aims.

The former Genoa man is the backup to Buffon at Juventus, and still sees the Italy captain as the world’s best.

“I think a goalkeeper also needs to be technically strong and from this point of view Gigi remains number one as far as I’m concerned,” Storari told Sky.

Storari: ‘Optimistic about renewal’

Marco Storari says he’s ‘optimistic’ he’ll be offered a new contract with Juventus before the end of the season.

The 38-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and despite his status as backup to Gigi Buffon, the former Genoa man wants to extend his stay in Turin.

“I don’t think there will be any problems with the renewal,” Storari told Sky.

“For my part, I’ve made myself available. I’m mature, and I offer enthusiasm. Also, I can give advice in the dressing room.
