Nastasic shuts down Juventus

Juventus target Matija Nastasic shuts down rumours of a transfer: 'Next year I'll certainly continue with Schalke 04'.

The 22-year-old defender was increasingly being linked to the Bianconeri, with Schalke's general director Horst Heldt encouraging the Italian club to make an appropriate offer.

But the player himself denied that similar options were being considered when he was asked about a possible Juventus offer.

'Juve, meet Nastasic demands'

Horst Heldt says that Schalke 04 can let Matija Nastasic go to Juventus, but only if the offer meets their demands.

The general manager of the Bundesliga club was already approached for the defender, but he seems to believe the deal is not quite done yet.

“We know the player enjoys the interest of some top clubs in Italy and England that will be playing in more glamorous tournaments than the Europa League,” he said, as reported by Tuttosport.

Juve: Nastasic or Abdennour

Juventus can focus on their defence now and, after Aymen Abdennour, are targeting Schalke centre-back Matija Nastasic.

The Bianconeri have already been very active on the market this summer, bringing in Sami Khedira, Paulo Dybala, Simone Zaza and Mario Mandzukic.

Now they are turning their attention to strengthening the back line, as Angelo Ogbonna is on the verge of a move to West Ham or Everton.

According to Tuttosport, Juve are renewing their past interest for ex-Fiorentina defender Nastasic.

Inter revive Nastasic interest

Inter are making another offer for Matija Nastasic, who has moved from Manchester City to Schalke 04.

The Nerazzurri have repeatedly been linked with the ex-Fiorentina defender, who would relish a reunion with Coach Roberto Mancini.

It was Mancio who brought him to Manchester as part of the Stefan Savic deal, but he spent much of the last three years on the bench.

Nastasic joined Schalke 04 on loan for this season and the German club has already activated the option to buy for €9.5m with a contract until 2019.

Inter, Lazio, Juve for Nastasic

Lazio and Juventus are fighting Inter for the signature of Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic.

The ex-Fiorentina centre-back has been linked with a return to Serie A for several months now and the January transfer window is coming up.

Inter would seem to be the favourites, as they are now coached by ex-Manchester City and Viola boss Roberto Mancini.

However, Juventus are also interested and confirmed they will try to bring in a new centre-back to deal with the on-going Andrea Barzagli injury problems.

Nastasic closer to Inter?

Defender Matija Nastasic’s current situation at Manchester City reportedly leaves him primed for a mid-season loan to Inter.

Nastasic or Vegas for Inter

Roberto Mancini wants Manchester City's Matija Nastasic, say reports, but Audax's Sebastian Vegas is an alternative.

The Inter Coach was conjectured four days ago by the Daily Mirror to be after Nastasic, and Tuttosport have today looked to corroborate the story.

They report that Mancio has expressly requested a central defender arrive in January, and that Nastasic is the first option.

Mancini wants Nastasic at Inter

Roberto Mancini is eager to be reunited with Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic at Inter in January.

According to the Daily Mirror, Mancini has chosen Nastasic to reinforce his back four at San Siro.

Nemanja Vidic has slipped far down the pecking order since Mancio took over from Walter Mazzarri and could well leave in January for a return to Manchester United.

At the same time, 21-year-old Nastasic is fighting for a place in the City line-up and could be released on loan.

Mancini’s defensive headache

After a draw and a win in his first two games, Roberto Mancini tasted defeat against Roma and his first real headache, the Inter defence.

Three games in, and one can say now that the hard part is over for Inter’s returning Coach. Roberto Mancini probably has a fair enough idea now of what is working, what may work and what is not working with the Nerazzurri.

One thing that is definitely not working for the time being is the Inter defence. The switch to the back four hasn’t reduced the glut of goals going in, and Roma’s four mean the team has now conceded 19 goals already at an alarming rate of 1.46 per game in the first 13 matches.
