Milito no closer to return

Diego Milito is no closer to making his return for Inter leading to fresh doubts that he will be available for next week's trip to Bayern Munich.

The 31-year-old striker has suffered a repeat of the same muscle injury in his left leg and Inter's doctors aren't prepared to risk anything.

Milito has been training with the ball of late at a good level of intensity, but scans taken on Wednesday haven't allayed concerns about his fitness.

Milito unsure about Munich

Diego Milito has conceded that he doesn't know whether he'll be fit in time for Inter's Champions League tie at Bayern Munich.

Milito is currently sidelined with an injury and he was missed in last week's 1-0 home loss to Bayern.

There were hopes that the Argentine, who scored a brace in last season's Final against the Germans, would be fit in time for the Munich return on March 15.

However, Milito is not setting himself any deadlines – his only priority is to return to action when fully fit.

Milito: Inter must respect Bayern

The hero of last year's Champions League Final Diego Milito believes Inter must respect Bayern Munich when they meet this evening.

The Argentina international striker scored a brace of goals at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid to end a 45-year drought in Europe's elite club competition last May.

He will be conspicuous by his absence at San Siro tonight after being ravaged by injury yet again this season.

"Leonardo has given us the consciousness to be a strong group and I believe that this has been fundamental," Milito said.

Milito flies back to Argentina

Inter striker Diego Milito has flown back home to Argentina to recover from yet another injury.

The 31-year-old strained a muscle in his right leg for the fourth time this season.

Rather than send Milito to a specialist, Inter have recommended that he put his feet up in Argentina.

The weather is a lot warmer in Buenos Aires and far more conducive to healing muscle injuries.

Lucio and Dejan Stankovic are also currently on the sidelines.

They will almost certainly miss this weekend's Derby d'Italia.

Milito out for a month

Inter's Champions League hopes have been hit by an injury to Diego Milito which could see him sidelined for 40 days.

The Argentine, who has had fitness issues all season, picked up a muscle problem in Sunday's 5-3 win over Roma.

The 2010 World Cup striker underwent scans earlier today which confirmed a muscle strain in his left thigh.

At this stage, Inter expect Milito to be out of action for 30-40 days which will come as a huge blow to boss Leonardo.

Milito is always looking to improve

Inter striker Diego Milito says the secret to his success is a desire to always improve.

The 30-year-old Argentina international was named Serie A Player of the Year last month.

He was instrumental in Inter's treble-winning season, scoring in the Champions League Final.

Interviewed on FIFA's official website, he said: "Every goal has a special place in my heart.

"Obviously some are more important for the team than others, like goals that win cups and championships.

Milito pays tribute to the Special One

Inter striker Diego Milito feels Jose Mourinho deserves a lot of the credit for his three awards at the Oscar del Calcio last night.

The 31-year-old Argentine won a personal treble, as he was named Serie A Player of the Year, Best Foreigner and Best Bomber.

"There were many successes with Mourinho," Milito said. "As a Coach, he taught us many things like for example never giving up.

"I will always thank him."

Milito then reflected on this season, which has been hampered by four separate injuries.

Milito out for two games

Diego Milito has been ruled out for two matches after picking up an injury against Cesena in midweek.

The 31-year-old scored in the 16th minute of Inter's 3-2 win, but was hauled off shortly afterwards.

Last night scans revealed that Milito has strained a muscle in his left leg.

The Argentine is definitely out of Sunday's trip to Udinese in Serie A.

He is also a major doubt for next week's clash with Napoli in the Coppa Italia.

Inter will follow Leo, says Milito

Inter striker Diego Milito has welcomed the appointment of Leonardo as the club's new tactician.

Leonardo was hired just before Christmas after Inter and Rafa Benitez agreed to a mutual termination.

The Brazilian Coach has been taking his first training sessions at Appiano Gentile and Milito claims he has already left a 'really big impression'.

"He is a great person who has given a very clear message," Milito explained.

"The team will back him and I hope that he can help us realise important objectives."

Zanetti: 'I'm disguised as Milito!'

Javier Zanetti scored the best goal of the Club World Cup semi-final. “I disguised myself as Diego Milito,” grinned the 37-year-old Inter captain.

The 3-0 victory over South Koreans Seongnam saw Dejan Stankovic and Milito on target, but the middle goal was a wonderful give-and-go between Zanetti and Milito.

“I disguised myself as Milito and he gave me a great assist,” said the defender.

“We needed a victory like this and I above all wanted it for my teammates who are coming back into the side.
