Coppa: SPAL, Lecce and Sassuolo win

SPAL fought back from an early Feralpisaló goal to win 3-1 and will face four-star Lecce in the Coppa Italia Fourth Round, while Sassuolo squeezed past Spezia.

Serie C side Feralpisaló took the lead in the opening 60 seconds of their trip to the Stadio Paolo Mazza, as Maiorino was at the back post to meet a Ceccarelli cross.

Federico Di Francesco equalised immediately thanks to a spectacular volley, then Mattia Valoti finished off a well-worked team move.

Lecce go for Wilfried Bony?

Lecce have reportedly moved to sign Ivory Coast striker and free agent Wilfried Bony.

Bony’s agent recently confirmed holding talks with Italian clubs, and Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira writes Lecce are ready to topple the competition.

The Salentini are desperately seeking an experienced No 9 after deals for Burak Yilmaz and Kostas Manolas failed to bear fruition.

Lukaku: 'Not bad for a fat boy'

Romelu Lukaku hit back at reports his weight could delay his Inter debut against Lecce. “Not bad for a fat boy.”

The Nerazzurri begin their Serie A season on Monday August 26 and the Corriere dello Sport wrote today that Lukaku might not be ready to start that match because he was overweight.

The report claimed he weighed 104kg, whereas the medical staff do not want him to be above 100kg.

Napoli season ticket sales down

Napoli have sold only 9,000 season tickets for 2019-20, fewer than Parma, Bologna, Cagliari, Udinese and Lecce.

Despite improvements to the Stadio San Paolo this summer, including new seats, fans are still not flocking to watch home games.

According to Radio Kiss Kiss, there are only 9,000 season tickets sold by the Partenopei so far.

In comparison, Atalanta and SPAL sold 7,000, Hellas Verona, Cagliari, Bologna and Parma have 10,000 members and Udinese 13,000.

Lukaku too overweight for Serie A debut?

Romelu Lukaku might miss the opening Serie A game of Inter's season against Lecce because he is overweight, it’s reported.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the striker arrived from Manchester United out of shape, having missed their pre-season friendlies officially due to injury.

It’s claimed his current weight is 104kg, whereas the Nerazzurri want him to not go above 100kg.

The Belgian is well aware of the situation and has been coming in on his days off for extra training.

Farias: 'Lecce an easy choice'

“Choosing Lecce was an easy decision to make,” confessed Diego Farias after completing the transfer from Cagliari.

The 29-year-old Brazilian spent the last six months on loan at Empoli, but has now moved to Lecce on loan with option to buy that becomes an obligation if they avoid relegation.

Official: Farias joins Lecce

Diego Farias has officially joined Lecce on loan with conditional obligation to buy, while extending his Cagliari contract until 2022.

A statement on Cagliari’s website confirmed Farias’ season-long loan would become permanent if Lecce avoided relegation on their return to Serie A.

If the Salentini fail to stay up, he will revert to honouring his commitment with his parent club, which will have two years left to run.

The Brazilian forward, who turned 29 in May, has spent his entire professional career in Italy.

Bony: 'Talking to Italian clubs'

Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony confirmed his agent “is talking with some clubs in Italy and Turkey also. We’re waiting for the best offer.”

The 30-year-old centre-forward is currently training with League Two side Newport County in Wales after his Swansea City contract expired.

Bony spent the last six months on loan with Al-Arabi.

“I need to train with a team to be fit before I find a new team,” Bony told BBC Sport Wales.

Official: Farias to join Lecce

It is now official that Diego Farias will complete his transfer from Cagliari to Lecce in a deal reportedly worth €7m.

The 29-year-old Brazilian will undergo a medical tomorrow and sign the contract.

It’s due to be a loan with option to buy at the end of the season for a total of €7m.

However, as confirmed in the Lecce statement, it becomes an obligation to buy if the Salentini stay in Serie A.

Farias had also been heavily linked with Sassuolo and spent the last six months on loan at Empoli.
