Spadafora: 'Serie A needs Plan B and C'

Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora said football has no ‘certainties’ to complete the season and urges Serie A to ‘find a Plan B and C’.

After a new wave of coronavirus in the top tier, the Minister of Sport said he believes the championship can be completed but stressed he can’t guarantee anything.

“We can do it, but I don’t know if we can go all the way,” Spadafora told La7. “We have no certainties for either Serie A or the other aspects.

“The League must find a Plan B and C.”

Brescia got their first win of the season by thumping Lecce 3-0 on the return of coach Diego Lopez, but Monza-Vicenza is postponed due to a COVID outbreak.

Serie A Week 4 referees

AIA has announced the referees of Serie A Week 4, with Maurizio Mariani overseeing the Milan derby and Marco Di Bello in charge of Napoli-Atalanta.

The 38-year-old Roman has been given the Derby della Madonnina between Inter and Milan on Saturday, his 92 Serie A appearance.

Di Bello has been assigned to oversee the match between Napoli and Atalanta at the San Paolo earlier that day.

Serie A coaches' wages

Inter tactician Antonio Conte's €12m is by far the highest salary among the Serie A coaches, ranging all the way to Spezia’s Vincenzo Italiano on €500,000.

The Nerazzurri coach has been asked to bring back the Scudetto to San Siro and La Gazzetta dello Sport, who analysed the wage bills of all the Italian top flight clubs, has revealed he makes €9.5m more than Roma coach Paulo Fonseca at second.

Report: Serie A discuss potential Plan B

Serie A has reportedly started discussing the hypotheses of a play-offs and a Final Eight, should the League risk having to finish with a different format.

Football has been trying to avoid concluding the championships through play-offs and the hope of concluding Serie A with the traditional formula is still the priority.

But Il Corriere dello Sport reveals the FIGC has started working on different hypotheses in case of an emergency, highlighted by Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora in an interview with Corriere della Sera yesterday.

Spadafora: 'Current format too optimistic?'

The Minister of Sport Vincenzo Spadafora has claimed the ‘protocols are clear’ and stressed ‘we are working hard’ to avoid another stop in Serie A.

As Juventus waited for Napoli knowing the Partenopei wouldn’t turn up, the protocols and laws are being tested to the limit.

Spadafora admitted the situation in Turin was ‘not a great show’ and pointed at a protocol that ‘establish precise responsibilities’.

Official: Crotone purchase Petriccione

Crotone have officially signed midfielder Jacopo Petriccione from Lecce on a permanent transfer.

The deal was announced by newly-promoted Crotone this evening.

The 25-year-old only joined Lecce in 2018 after spells at Bari, Fiorentina, Ternana and Pistoiese.

Petriccione provided five assists in 31 Serie A appearances last season, which was his debut in the top flight.

He has signed a four-year contract with Crotone.
