Official: Imbula leaves Lecce

Giannelli Imbula’s time with Lecce has officially come to an end, as the club have announced that the defender’s contract has been terminated.

The former Stoke City defender signed for the Giallorossi last summer, but made only three appearances for the Pugliese side this season.

The 27-year-old was signed on loan from Stoke, but now the club have confirmed that they’ve ended the arrangement with the English side.

Imbulla is now expected to return to the Championship outfit.

Falco injury, Vigorito renewal for Lecce

Lecce announce that Filippo Falco has not sustained a serious thigh injury, while goalkeeper Mauro Vigorito signed a new contract.

The Salentini released two press statements this evening, giving updates on their players.

He has already started physiotherapy and will be evaluated on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Vigorito has extended his contract with Lecce until June 2022.

Imbula leaves Lecce for Lokomotiv

Lecce are cutting their loan spell with Giannelli Imbula short, as the Stoke City midfielder is in negotiations with Lokomotiv Moscow.

According to French site Footmercato, Lecce are not prepared to keep hold of Imbula after he made just three Serie A appearances for the club.

Stoke could even terminate his contract by mutual consent, allowing him to sign for Lokomotiv Moscow, as he is currently in Russia to meet with the club and view their training facilities.

His deal with Stoke is meant to run to June 2021.

Di Biagio: 'SPAL safety not crazy'

Gigi Di Biagio maintains SPAL “deserved more” from their loss to Lecce, but hasn’t lost hope. “Talking about safety might seem crazy, but I’ve seen crazy things.”

This was the former Italy Under-21 coach’s first ever Serie A game as a tactician, replacing sacked Leonardo Semplici on the bench.

Although Andrea Petagna had equalised at the dawn of the second half, Zan Majer sealed the 2-1 Lecce victory after a Marco Mancosu penalty.
