Stefano Pioli may have done enough to secure his future at Milan as the club’s recent form has helped silence his doubters ahead of the summer.

The Rossoneri were in a disappointing position in the run-up to Christmas, having crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage and falling 11 points behind rivals Inter after the 17th game of the season, essentially taking them out of the title race.

Pioli began to be seriously questioned by Milan fans and pundits, with many desperate to see a new face in the dugout like Antonio Conte or Thiago Motta, a feeling even shared amongst some club directors. Since the turn of the year, though, things have been different.

Page 14 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Pioli has managed to turn things around at Milan over the last three months, picking up eight wins in the last 11 Serie A matches, a run that’s taken the team to second in the table.

The Rossoneri now hold an 11-point gap over fifth place Roma and have seemingly confirmed their spot in the Champions League, a vital objective and one that could be enough to guarantee the Italian coach’s future for another year.

  1. The 1st requirement for a milan team is to at the minimum make the round of 16 of the champ league. FAILED.
The 2nd requirement for a competitive Milan team is to at least challenge in Serie A. Currently 14 points of the top – nowhere near it for 2 seasons in a row.
Out of Coppa Italia as well.
What Milan are ‘achieving’ at the moment is effectively the absolute minimum. The only way milan make this season a ‘success’ is IF they win the europa league. I can’t see it though.
