Coppa: Parma and Empoli go through

Parma will face Lazio in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 after beating Serie B side Cosenza 2-1, but Empoli beat Brescia by default to set up a fixture with Napoli.

The Ducali had opened the scoring after 13 minutes with Juan Brunetta’s debut goal for the club, unleashing a right-foot finish after the Andreas Cornelius effort was charged down.

Cosenza equalised through Angelo Corsi, but moments later Brunetta found the back of the net again, this time using his left foot at the back post.

Parma will face Lazio in the Round of 16 in January.

Former director Massimiliano Mirabelli maintains Milan were ‘hasty’ selling Manuel Locatelli, overpaid for Sandro Tonali, while they risk losing Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu.

He was director of sport for the Rossoneri from April 2017 to July 2018, dismissed after the brief Yonghong Li tenure in charge.

“Donnarumma and Calhanoglu are two fundamental players for Milan and they’ve proved that yet again over the last few months,” Mirabelli told Radio Sportiva.
