Corini: 'Brecia to get a result'

Eugenio Corini expects a “healthy” Milan when Brescia could give Birkir Bjarnason his first start as they “try to get a result” on Friday.

The Icelandic midfielder came on after the break during the 2-2 draw with Cagliari and could be in line for his first game in the starting XI.

Corini admitted that it might be too early for new-boy Simon Skrabb, as he expects an “aggressive” Milan.

Pioli: 'Suso available'

Stefano Pioli said Suso “is available” ahead of the Brescia match, despite meeting with the directors at Milan yesterday regarding his future.

The Spanish winger has been linked with a move back to Spain, and reports in Italy have also claimed that Roma are following his situation at San Siro.

But Pioli has claimed he will be available to play on Friday and pointed out that Lucas Paqueta will also be at his disposal.

“Suso is training very well,” Pioli said at a press conference. “He is available to play.

Pioli: 'Every game the most important'

Stefano Pioli has challenged his players to bring Milan “back to where they’ve always been” and continue to “improve our position” in Serie A.

The Rossoneri are playing Brescia on Friday night and are currently on a run of three consecutive wins.

The coach seems pleased with what he has been presented after the winter break, but is adamant that they must “treat every game as if it’s the most important” to help them climb further up the table.

Serie A Week 21 referees

The referees for Serie A week 21 have been announced, and Gianpaolo Calvarese has been given the derby match between Roma and Lazio.

The 43-year-old will be the match official when the Giallorossi are set to play their home game against the Biancocelesti

He has been at the helm of 21 Lazio matches so far and they have come out as winners in 15 of them, only losing three times with Calvarese in charge.

Roma also have experience with the Teramo resident, as he has led the Giallorossi out of the tunnel 17 times.

Bjarnason: 'Happy to be at Brescia'

Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason explained his transfer to Brescia and how he has “grown so much since I last played in Italy.”

This was a return to Serie A for the 31-year-old, who already wore the Pescara and Sampdoria jerseys in 2012-15.

“The talks only started a few days ago and I am very happy to be back in Italy with Brescia,” said Bjarnason in his press conference.

Serie A: Two-match ban for Balo

Serie A handed Brescia star Mario Balotelli a two-match ban and a €10,000 fine after the sending off against Cagliari, whilst eight other players are suspended.

Balotelli came lasted only seven minutes on the pitch after coming off the bench in the 74th minute, as he was first awarded a yellow card for a foul and then another for insulting the referee.

The Diciplinary Commission gave its verdict and decided that the Brescia forward will have to sit out the games against Milan and Bologna, as well as a fine for insulting the match official.

Zajc set for Brescia

Former Empoli midfielder Miha Zajc is reportedly on his way back to Italy with Brescia after a year at Fenerbahce.

According to Turkish site Fotomac, the Slovenia international is on the verge of a €4m transfer to Brescia.

This is roughly the same price that Fenerbahce paid to sign him from Empoli in January 2019.

Zajc spent two years at Empoli, putting together 68 competitive appearances for the Tuscan side, scoring 12 goals and contributing 19 assists.

He has 15 senior caps for Slovenia, scoring four goals.

Cellino: 'Balotelli pressure on referees'

Brescia President Massimo Cellino feels Mario Balotelli is treated more harshly by referees because “he is so much in the spotlight.”

The striker lasted just seven minutes when coming off the bench against Cagliari on Sunday afternoon.

He received a yellow card for a clumsy, high tackle, then clearly insulted the referee, resulting in a second booking.
