Pirlo: 'No Brescia investment'

Andrea Pirlo confirmed he is trying to save his old club Brescia, but won’t make direct investments.

The story emerged today in Il Giornale di Brescia that the Juventus midfielder was going to help buy out the club where he started his career.

“I have the future of Brescia in my heart, as this is a club I have a deep emotional bond with,” Pirlo told news agency ANSA.

Pirlo and Baggio to save Brescia

Andrea Pirlo is prepared to invest in Serie B side Brescia to avoid bankruptcy with Roberto Baggio possibly as Coach.

The Rondinelle are struggling badly and on the edge of disappearing off the Italian footbal map.

“I am suffering so much seeing the team I cheer on in such dire conditions,” Pirlo told Il Giornale di Brescia.

He started his career at Brescia’s youth academy and wore the jersey from 1994 to 1998.

Serie B: Brescia sack Iaconi

Serie B side Brescia have sacked Coach Ivo Iaconi and temporarily handed the reins to Ivan Javorcic.

It’s the latest chapter in a difficult campaign for the club, who are looking for new investors amid serious financial problems.

The Rondinelle are fifth from bottom in Serie B with 19 points after four wins, seven draws and seven defeats.

Iaconi was fired today after a 1-0 home defeat to Spezia and the team is temporarily given to Primavera youth team Coach Javorcic.

Pakistan takeover for Brescia?

Pakistani businessman Kadir Sheikh Abdul has reportedly agreed to buy Serie B club Brescia.

“I have bought the club,” he is quoted as telling the Giornale di Brescia newspaper.

“The city deserves a team in Serie A and I will work for this.”

There is no official confirmation yet, as Brescia had also been in takeover talks with Rinaldo Sagramola.

The Rondinelle are currently owned by Gino Corioni and among their previous players boast Roberto Baggio and Pep Guardiola.

Mihajlovic fines himself for dissent

Sinisa Mihajlovic fined himself after a red card and will buy dinner for his Sampdoria players. “What I ask of them, I ask of myself first.”

The Coach was sent off for dissent during the Coppa Italia Fourth Round tie with Brescia this week.

Today Mihajlovic announced he told the club to dock his pay and hand the money to the Istituto Gaslini hospital to buy a ventilator.

Mihajlovic 'may veto Gabbiadini move'

Sampdoria Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has indicated he may veto Manolo Gabbiadini’s move to Napoli.

Gabbiadini is expected to join the Partenopei in January, having reportedy agreed personal terms with the club, following Juventus and Sampdoria’s acceptance of an €11m bid for the co-owned player.

‘Gabbiadini can be replaced’

Sampdoria captain Daniele Gastaldello is sure Sampdoria can replace Manolo Gabbiadini if the forward moves to Napoli.

The 23-year-old is widely expected to complete a transfer to the Partenopei in January, with reports tonight indicating that the striker has agreed personal terms with the club.

Speaking after his side’s 2-0 Coppa Italia win over Brescia - in which Gabbiadini scored - the Blucerchiati captain wasn’t too concerned by the prospective departure.

Coppa: Sampdoria beat Brescia

Manolo Gabbiadini scored as Sampdoria beat Brescia 2-0 to qualify for the fifth round of the Coppa Italia.

Gabbiadini is on the verge of agreeing a move away from Marassi to join Napoli, but the striker opened the scoring here with a 33rd minute penalty.

A second half strike from Gonzalo Bergessio sealed the victory for the Blucerchiati, who will now travel to San Siro in January to take on Inter.

The Fourth Round tie kicks off on Thursday at 20.00 GMT and the winners go on to face Inter.
