Inter’s doubts about the futures of Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij have pushed the club to start considering moves for Kim Min-Jae and Chris Smalling.

The Nerazzurri already have both eyes fixed on the new season, having little to fight for on the pitch with just over two months left to go. Simone Inzaghi’s side hold a 14-point lead in the Serie A table and seem destined to secure their 20th ever Scudetto in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, Inter are left to watch on as the racism row involving Acerbi continues to rage on, with the veteran defender continuing to protest his innocence as the FIGC investigate his alleged racist abuse aimed at Napoli’s Juan Jesus in the 1-1 draw on March 17th.

Page 10 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inter have identified two intriguing options to bolster their defence in the summer, should both Acerbi and the declining De Vrij move on at the end of the season – Bayern’s Kim and Roma’s Smalling.

The former only joined the Bavarian giants from Napoli last summer but things have proven difficult over the course of this season and his future at the club could depend on his relationship with the new head coach.

For the latter, Smalling’s contract expires with Roma in June 2025 and he’s not had an easy season, missing around 29 matches this season due to a tendon complaint.
