Cutrone: 'Milan got distracted'

Patrick Cutrone maintains Milan did not lack humility against Dudelange, but were merely “distracted and will learn from this.”

The 20-year-old had given them the lead with his fourth goal from only five shots on target in the Europa League this season, but the side from Luxembourg fought back to go 2-1 up at San Siro.

A late flurry of four goals in 15 minutes secured the 5-2 final victory.

Milan qualify if...

Milan can afford to lose by some scorelines against Olympiacos and reach the Europa League Round of 32.

The Rossoneri fought back from 2-1 down to beat Dudelange 5-2, while Olympiacos fell 1-0 to Real Betis.

That means the Spaniards are already qualified on 11 points, with Milan second on 10 and Olympiacos following with seven points.

Setien: 'Betis superior to Milan'

Coach Quique Setien admits he didn’t expect Real Betis “would take four points off Milan” in the Europa League group, but they were “superior” overall.

Suso’s free kick cancelled out an early Giovani Lo Celso strike for the 1-1 result.

As Betis won 2-1 at San Siro, this keeps the Spaniards a point clear of Milan and Olympiacos at the top of the group.

“I think we put in a good performance,” said Setien in his Press conference.

Slow and steady wins the race

Milan showed character to come back against Olympiacos, leading Matthew Santangelo to believe the Rossoneri are slowly finding their feet.

Gennaro Gattuso and his Milan again entered the season with intentions of qualifying for the Champions League and making an even-deeper run in the Europa League compared to last season, when Arsenal sent them home in the Round of 16. Similarly to last year, the Rossoneri have stumbled out of the gate, labouring to put opponents to bed and turn in a complete 90 minutes. However, during last week’s 4-1 win against Sassuolo, when Gattuso had to cope without his two strikers Gonzalo Higuain and Patrick Cutrone, it forced the rest to step up, sacrifice and finish the match strongly.

Cutrone: 'Learning from Higuain'

Patrick Cutrone said he can “only learn from Gonzalo Higuain” after they both scored for Milan to beat Olympiacos 3-1.

The Italy Under-21 international came off the bench with his side trailing 1-0 in the Europa League, but found the net twice to complete the comeback.

“I’m always hungry for goals. We were at home, we were trailing, we needed the three points and I think we deserved them,” Cutrone told Sky Sport Italia.
