Juventus too negative in Europe

If Juventus want to be considered among Europe's elite, they should be more pro-active in their Champions League games, argues Jamie Thorn.

Consecutive draws against Sporting Lisbon and Barcelona have left Juventus in danger of their Champions League campaign being cut short should they fail to win in Athens.

Though Sporting face the more difficult task of defeating Barcelona at Camp Nou, Olympiacos will want to end their brief spell in the competition with victory in front of their own fans. A hostile atmosphere at the Georgios Karaiskakis stadium won’t make it any easier for Max Allegri’s men.

Speaking to Sky Sport, the French midfielder hailed Juve’s ‘very important’ win but added that there is still a long way to go in the season.

Higuain: ‘Juve have rediscovered hunger’

Gonzalo Higuain says Juventus have ‘rediscovered the right hunger’ following an indifferent start to the season.

The Old Lady attracted criticism in the early part of the campaign for several lacklustre performances in Serie A, while they have also made hard work of qualifying from Champions League Group D.

However, Friday night’s 1-0 win at Scudetto rivals Napoli took the defending champions just one point behind the League leaders, giving Higuain renewed belief that Juve are back on track.

Howedes out until 2018

Benedikt Howedes is out until 2018 with a thigh strain, confirmed Juventus, while Mario Mandzukic remains in doubt for the Champions League against Olympiacos.

Pjanic: 'Juve must play better'

Miralem Pjanic concedes Juventus “have to play better football,” but looks denies they care more about the Champions League than Serie A.

“It’s obvious we have to play better football, but then we are accustomed to criticism,” Pjanic told TuttoJuve at a sponsorship event.
