Manolas digs heels on renewal

Roma are having trouble renewing Kostas Manolas' contract as Chelsea and Arsenal swoop in.

Even as the deals for Real Madrid's Nacho and Inter's Juan Jesus look to be virtually complete, the Giallorossi have a new problem to be sorted out in their central defence.

According to both Il Tempo and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manolas is reluctant to sign his contract renewal. Roma are offering €2m per season plus bonuses, but the Greek's agent is looking to negotiate a better deal.

Gila, Palermo vie with Olympiacos

Palermo's attempts at signing striker Alberto Gilardino from Guangzhou Evergrande could be thwarted by an Olympiacos swoop.

The former Azzurri striker is owned by the Chinese club but has already proven himself a Serie A option, spending half of last season on loan at Fiorentina.

The Rosanero are currently the team closest to the player, with President Maurizio Zamparini stating a few days ago that the deal was imminent.

Alex or Paletta exit looms?

The seemingly imminent arrival of Alessio Romagnoli at Milan could reportedly see Alex or Gabriel Paletta leave the club.

The Rossoneri have been negotiating with Roma for most of the summer for Italy Under-21 international Romagnoli, and a deal is now reportedly close to completion.

However, Corriere della Sera has reported today that a knock-on effect of the signing will be that one of the more experienced centre-backs will face the axe.

Stramaccioni for Olympiacos

Andrea Stramaccioni parted company with Udinese and is now tipped to take over at Greek club Olympiacos.

The former Inter Coach did not share their views on how to progress next season, so terminated his contract by mutual consent after only one year.

Now he is a free agent and La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Stramaccioni is being considered for the Olympiacos bench.

They won their fifth consecutive Souper Ligka title and qualified for the Champions League, but need a replacement after Vitor Pereira went to Fenerbahce.
