Bologna: Skorupski negative for COVID

Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski has tested negative for coronavirus and returns to Italy today.

Calciomercato.com reports the goalkeeper underwent a new swab test and received a negative result.

Skorupski will gradually resume training in the next few days, after having tested positive for COVID-19 during the international retreat with Poland.

He was not available for the 1-0 defeat to Inter last time and his conditions will be monitored for the match against his former club Roma on Sunday.

Napoli await Zielinski COVID verdict

Napoli are anxiously awaiting news from Piotr Zielinski’s blood tests, as he tested first positive and then negative for COVID after international duty with Poland.

There was an outbreak of Coronavirus inside the Poland camp, hitting among others Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski.

Considering Zielinski was Skorupski’s roommate at the training camp, this raised concerns that the Napoli midfielder could become infected.

Push for expanded Euro 2020 squads

There are growing reports UEFA are under pressure to expand Euro 2020 teams to 25 players after confirming there could be five substitutions per game.

The decision to uphold the five substitutions per match was ratified today in a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee.

That might not be the only adjustment to the rules for the tournament, which was postponed from last summer due to the pandemic.

Lewandowski out of both PSG clashes

The Italians playing for PSG have suddenly become favourites to reach the Champions League semi-finals after Bayern Munich confirmed Robert Lewandowski is out for a month.

He picked up a knee injury on international duty with Poland and tests showed there was more damage than previously thought.

“Lewandowski has strained a ligament in his right knee,” read the statement.

Skorupski catches COVID with Poland

Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski has tested positive for COVID-19 while on international duty.

A statement from the Polish Football Federation confirmed he provided a positive test.

He has been in isolation since Thursday night, having shown the first symptoms with an increased temperature.

There is an outbreak brewing in the Poland national team, as Mateusz Klich of Leeds United already tested positive on Wednesday morning.

Official: Poland hire Sousa

The Polish FA has announced former Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa as new head coach of Poland.

The 50-year-old Portuguese coach had been without a club since he left Girondins de Bordeaux in August 2020.

In his two seasons with the Viola, he helped them to fifth and eight in Serie A, winning 34 of his 76 League games picking up 124 points in Florence.

The Polish FA has announced Sousa as Jerzy Brzeczek’s successor ahead of Euro 2020 this summer.

Sky: Milik travels to Marseille for medical

Napoli have reportedly reached an agreement with Olympique Marseille over Arkadiusz Milik, who travels for his medical today.

Sky Sport Italia reports the Poland international travels to Marseille for his medical and the Ligue side seem to have unlocked the operation that has seemed impossible for some time.

Milik has renewed with Napoli for two more years and move directly to Marseille, who have secured a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Marseille in Milik talks

Marseille coach André Villas-Boas has confirmed the Ligue 1 side are in talks with Napoli over a move for Arkadiusz Milik.

Milik seemed set to leave the Partenopei last summer, but moves to both Roma and Juventus fell through and the Poland international was not registered to play in Serie A.

The 26-year-old striker wants to play in Euro 2020 this summer and is searching for regular playing time in the second half of the 2020-21 season.

“We are talking about it with his club,” Villas-Boas said, according to Calciomercato.com.

Poland Federation President Zibi Boniek claims Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski ‘could become even better than Kevin de Bruyne.’

Polish legend Boniek spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss about Zielinski’s progress for the Serie A side.

“Zielinski is a player with pure technique. He can shake off a marker with a single touch, he’s unpredictable, and becoming a father will help him to become even more mature,” said the President of the Polish FA.
