Silva expecting 'open' Atalanta tie

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has told his teammates to expect ‘an open game’ against Atalanta in the Champions League quarter-finals.

The two sides were paired together in yesterday’s draw and Silva warned the Dea would be no pushovers.

“It’s the Champions League, and every team that’s there has deserved to reach the quarter-finals,” he told PSG TV.

“Atalanta are a team that causes a lot of problems for their opponents. Their three forwards are very fast, and it will be difficult.

Iachini: 'Fiorentina deserved victory'

Fiorentina coach Beppe Iachini feels they ‘did enough’ for three points and were only let down by finishing in a 1-1 draw with Brescia.

The Viola had numerous chances, despite going down to 10 men after Martin Caceres saw red, but also ultimately had to thank Bartlomiej Dragowski for a last-gasp save.

Fiorentina: 'Evaluating Thiago Silva'

Fiorentina director Joe Barone did not deny talks with Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva. ‘We’re evaluating opportunities.’

The Viola have been heavily linked with the Brazilian, who will be a free agent when his PSG contract expires on June 30.

“I read many rumours in the newspapers, we work with Daniele Pradè every day to evaluate the opportunities on the transfer market, and some of them are very expensive,” Barone told Sky Sport Italia.

Fiorentina ask after Ibrahimovic

After Thiago Silva, Fiorentina have reportedly now approached Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a free agent when his Milan contract expires.

The Viola are eager to replicate the positive impact had on the squad and fans by Franck Ribery, aiming to bring in another veteran at a relatively low cost.

Sky Sport Italia had already stated this week that Fiorentina offered Thiago Silva a different Serie A destination, as his contract with PSG will not be renewed.

Fiorentina dive in for Thiago Silva

Fiorentina are battling Milan and Everton for the signature of Thiago Silva, who is a free agent from PSG, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Sky Sport Italia transfer expert broke the news this evening that the Viola had approached Thiago Silva to offer him personal terms.

Like Franck Ribery last summer, Thiago Silva is a free agent and will turn 36 in September.

It was believed that Everton were leading the race, especially as it would mean a reunion with his old Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti.

Milan: Silva set to leave PSG

Thiago Silva is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, alerting Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton and former club Milan.

L’Equipe reports PSG sporting director called Silva earlier today to inform him that his contract, which expires on June 30, would not be renewed.

The newspaper explains how the 35-year-old was not prepared to take a pay cut in order to stay at Parc des Princes.

That leaves Milan with a free shot at bringing back the defender, who played for the Rossoneri between 2009 and 2012.
