Thiago Silva: 'Leo will convince Ganso'

As the two San Siro sides battle over Brazilian Ganso, Thiago Silva reveals why he'll choose Inter. “You can't say no to Leonardo.”

The local rivals have made no secret of their interest in bringing 21-year-old playmaker Paulo Henrique Ganso to Serie A, especially after he told Santos this week that he wanted a move to Europe.

Someone in the same position was Thiago Silva, who joined the Rossoneri when current Inter boss Leonardo was in charge.

The Brazilian is one of the most sought-after young talents in Serie A right now and has been linked with Real Madrid, but it was almost a very different story.

“In 2005 I was sent out on loan to Dinamo Moscow, but the city was horrible, I was cold and got ill,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport magazine Sport Week.

The Brazilian heir to Desailly

James Horncastle reports on Max Allegri's latest tactical move, which could see Thiago Silva become the next Marcel Desailly

Jari Litmanen could barely breathe. The Finnish No 10 huffed and puffed, his hollow cheeks now red, the contours of his face wet with perspiration. Louis Van Gaal had no choice but to haul him off. It was the 69th minute of the 1995 Champions League Final and Ajax were playing Fabio Capello's all-consuming Milan. "I suffer from asthma," Litmanen sighed. When asked to explain what that had anything to do with it, he replied: "They put Desailly on me and Desailly is a tough marker."

Thiago Silva ruled out of Coppa tie

Milan will have to do without key defender Thiago Silva for tonight's Coppa Italia match against Bari.

The Brazilian is not even in the squad for this evening's game after coming down with a stomach bug this morning.

Alessandro Nesta is also not 100 per cent fit, so it is likely Daniele Bonera will be drafted in with Mario Yepes at the centre of the defence.

Antonio Cassano is included and could make his first start in the Milan jersey.

Silva: Dinho wants to stay

Thiago Silva is surprised by the reports suggesting that Milan teammate Ronaldinho is heading for a January exit.

The Brazilian fantasista's future is in doubt after failing to break into the first team plans of boss Massimiliano Allegri this term.

A host of Brazilian outfits have been paired with a New Year switch for the player who only has six months left on his San Siro deal.

However, Thiago Silva expects his South American colleague to remain at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
