Alves extended with Parma

Parma have announced the renewal of Bruno Alves’ contract, as the Portuguese centre-back has signed until 2021 with the Ducali.

The 38-year-old has appeared 17 times for the Gialloblu this term and 51 in total after arriving from Ranges on a free transfer in July 2018.

The former Cagliari defender has been vital for Parma since their return to Serie A last season and has been rewarded with a one-year extension of the deal set to expire this summer.

Parma suffer Karamoh blow

Yann Karamoh faces an extended spell on the sidelines after the Parma winger injured knee ligaments.

The former Inter attacker was forced off during his side’s 1-1 draw with Fiorentina last Saturday, and a medical visit revealed damage to the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee.

“Yann Karamoh underwent diagnostic tests following the distortion trauma to his right knee, showing damage to the lateral collateral ligament,” the club wrote in a statement on its official website.

D'Aversa: 'Parma suited to counter-attack'

Parma boss Roberto D'Aversa believes his side struggle against more defensive opponents due to the nature of his players, as they visit Fiorentina.

The Ducali held Inter to a 2-2 draw in which they were leading, but lost at home to Hellas Verona in the next game. That has led to some asking if Parma's quicker players struggle against packed defences.

Parma suffer double blow

Parma will be without key duo Bruno Alves and Roberto Inglese for at least the next game after they suffered injuries.

Parma thrashed Genoa 5-1 on Sunday to move up to eighth in Serie A – but at the expense of Inglese.

That is because, as per the Ducali’s official website, the striker sprained his ankle and needs two weeks of treatment “and subsequent recovery”.

He lasted just 12 minutes at the weekend and was replaced by Andreas Cornelius, who scored a quick-fire hat-trick.

Cagliari not punished for Kean racism

Cagliari will not be charged after the FIGC downplayed the severity of the racial abuse their fans directed at Juventus striker Moise Kean.

Kean was subjected to racist chants from sections of Cagliari support after his late goal during Juve’s 2-0 win at the Sardegna Arena on April 2.

It has taken the FIGC over a month to finally reach a verdict, yet on Tuesday it was announced that the Rossoblu had been spared as the chants had ‘an objectively limited relevance’.

Parma target free agent Skrtel

Parma are reportedly targeting Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel for this summer, when he’ll be available as a free agent.

The 34-year-old is a former Liverpool legend who has been at Fenerbahce for the last three seasons.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Parma hope to offer Skrtel a new experience in Serie A.

This move would be in the same vein as Bruno Alves and Gervinho, given an opportunity to revitalise their careers in later years.

The offer on the table is believed to be a two-year contract with option to extend for a third.
