Van Ginkel: 'Injury not too serious'

Marco van Ginkel reassured both Milan and Chelsea that his ankle ligament injury “is not too bad and I hope to be back in a few weeks.”

The Dutch international midfielder, on a one-season loan from Stamford Bridge, was stretchered off just 30 minutes into his Serie A debut.

‘Torres will succeed at Milan’

Ex-Chelsea star Michael Essien has revealed his delight in playing alongside Alex and Fernando Torres again at Milan.

The former Blues duo followed Essien's lead to San Siro over the summer and the Ghanaian is positive about the effect he believes the pair can have in Serie A.

Van Ginkel set for tests

Marco van Ginkel is set for tests today at Milan headquarters, on an injury sustained yesterday evening against Empoli.

The young Dutchman was handed a first start for the Rossoneri at the Stadio Castellani in Week 4, but had to be stretchered off just half-an-hour in, with attention on a suspected ankle injury.

Milan Channel have confirmed that the 21-year-old will undergo medical tests on the complaint during the course of Wednesday and that updates on this and any recovery period will follow in the coming hours.

‘Mourinho told me to join Milan’

Marco van Ginkel says Nigel de Jong, Fernando Torres and Jose Mourinho all had a role in persuading him to accept Milan's offer.

The Dutch midfielder arrived loan from Chelsea this summer and the club's Vice-President Adriano Galliani defined him as the hardest transfer to complete in the summer window.

For the player himself, several people were involved in helping to persuade him to come to San Siro.

“De Jong often called me and insisted the club truly wanted me to join,” Van Ginkel has told Milan Channel today.
