Nainggolan: Why I stayed at Roma…

Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has explained why he rejected moves to Inter, Chelsea and China in the past. “It’s not all about money…”

Nainggolan has been linked with lucrative transfers to the aforementioned trio over the past couple of years, but the Belgian ultimately stuck with Roma, where he admits he is most ‘happy’.

“Inter? There was interest from them because the Coach rates me and vice versa, even if you wrote 1,000 stories about it... but let’s forget it,” he told Il Tempo.

PSG snub Italians for bench?

RMC suggest that Paris Saint-Germain have chosen their new Coach, but it won’t be Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti or Max Allegri.

The three Italians have all been pointed to as potential heirs to Unai Emery, whose days are numbered after their failure to progress past the Champions League Round of 16.

Chelsea boss Conte, Juventus chief Allegri and former Bayern Munich tactician Ancelotti had all been named as possible candidates, but Radio Monte Carlo claim the next man on the Parc des Princes bench won’t be Italian.

Ancelotti ‘waits for Premier League’

Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly waiting for a Premier League job, effectively pulling him out of the Italy race.

According to ItaSportPress, Ancelotti is keeping particular tabs on Arsenal and Chelsea, both of whom may well be in need of new managers as the pressure mounts on Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte.

That would leave him out of the Italy picture as the FIGC is expected to confirm the Azzurri’s new CT in May.

The 58-year-old has been out of work since parting with Bayern Munich back in October.

Chelsea full-back Davide Zappacosta felt Italy’s 1-1 draw and numerous chances against England are “not to be sniffed at.”

“It’s always an emotional occasion to play for your country, especially in a packed stadium like this,” Zappacosta told Rai Sport.

Contract extension talks were put back again to the end of the season and it remains to be seen if the tactician will remain in Naples.

Marco Giampaolo of Sampdoria and Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi have been mentioned as possible heirs, but Tuttosport point to a foreign name instead.

Luis Enrique has taken a year off after leaving Barcelona and is ready to get back to work.

Fabbricini: 'Economic aspect for Italy'

FIGC Commissioner Roberto Fabbricini admits “there is a financial aspect to be respected” when choosing the new Italy Coach, “but we rule nobody out.”

The Nazionale still don’t have a CT in place after sacking Gian Piero Ventura in November, so Under-21 boss Gigi Di Biagio is in the caretaker role for two friendlies.

He lost the first 2-0 to Argentina and takes on England at Wembley this evening, but other candidates include Carlo Ancelotti, Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini.

Chelsea go for Dzeko again?

Chelsea failed to tempt Edin Dzeko from Roma in January, but there are reports the club will try again over the summer.

The Giallorossi were very open about receiving the offer in the winter transfer window, stating it was not enough to force a sale.

According to Spanish site El Gol Digital, Chelsea are preparing another attempt to get Dzeko at the end of the season.

His price-tag should drop considerably, as he turned 32 last week, but remains on good form with 17 goals and five assists in 37 competitive games this season.
