Rugani awaits Juve signal

Daniele Rugani’s agent confirms he is of interest to other clubs and is waiting for a signal from Juventus. “There are five defenders now…”

The centre-back had been the subject of several offers from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Napoli in recent months, but always turned them down.

Now that Matthijs de Ligt and Merih Demiral have arrived, inevitably there will be even fewer opportunities for the Italian.

Jorginho: More Lampard freedom

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho says playing under Frank Lampard has given him ‘more freedom and creativity’ compared to Maurizio Sarri.

Jorginho played in a three-man midfield under Sarri but has since adapted to Lampard’s double pivot, providing an assist during Chelsea’s 2-1 win against Barcelona on Tuesday.

“My characteristics are to control the game, stay in the middle and organise the team but I can adapt as well,” the Italy international told his club’s official website.

Inter scrap Ivan the Terrible

Antonio Conte threw Ivan Perisic on to the increasingly crowded Inter scrapheap, writes Football Italia Chief Correspondent Richard Hall.

The message was clear and very strong. Ivan Perisic had no place in Antonio Conte’s new system. The statement from the Inter Coach seemed ill-timed and rather unnecessary, his team had only just really started pre-season, so what motive was behind the outburst? Now the Croatian moves on to the list of players looking to exit this summer, a missive that includes Mauro Icardi, Radja Nainggolan and Borja Valero. Is this wise?

Fede, don't be hasty

Federico Chiesa has every top club interested, but Giancarlo Rinaldi assures there are plenty of reasons to stay at Fiorentina for one more season.

In church congregations across Florence, they have been saying the same prayer every Sunday for months. Others have been rubbing the nose of the famous wild boar bronze Il Porcellino in the heart of the city in the hope of good fortune. The more practical have beseeched new owner Rocco Commisso to break the bank in order to fulfil their wish. But the end goal of all this supplication has been the same - to keep Federico Chiesa at Fiorentina for at least another season.

But why should the player commit to the cause?

West Ham €40m bid for Higuain

West Ham United have asked Juventus for Gonzalo Higuain at a cost of €40m, according to Sky Sport Italia, after they were rejected by several strikers.

Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Hammers offered the same €40m for Maxi Gomez and Sebastien Haller, but both the Celta Vigo forward and Eintracht Frankfurt star rejected the transfer, believing they can aim higher.

Now the €40m budget could be used for Higuain, although West Ham want the Argentine veteran on loan with option to buy.

Pipita returned to base after two failed loan spells in one season at Milan and Chelsea.

Even though there is no room for him in the Bianconeri squad, Sky Sport Italia insist Higuain will not even think about accepting a move to Roma.

He even hired a personal trainer to work with him during the summer, ensuring he’ll be in good shape to impress Sarri.
