PSG or United for Bakayoko?

Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have both reportedly approached Tiemoue Bakayoko with a view to signing the ex-Milan midfielder.

Bakayoko spent last season on loan at Milan, making 42 appearances in all competitions and becoming a fans’ favourite in the process.

However, the Rossoneri chose not to take up their €35m option to buy and RMC Sport claims new PSG sporting director Leonardo wants a reunion with the 24-year-old, who has since returned to Chelsea.

Gonzalo Higuain is starting to consider a Roma move, according to the Corriere dello Sport, on loan with option to buy at €26m and a reduced Juventus salary.

The striker has been told he is not part of Maurizio Sarri’s plans in Turin after failed loan spells at Milan and Chelsea.

He had been adamant he wouldn’t play for another Italian club other than Juve, but the latest reports suggest he is starting to open up to the idea of a Roma move.

Zola thanks Chelsea for role

Gianfranco Zola has thanked Chelsea for employing him as Maurizio Sarri’s assistant and ‘helping my career’, even if news of his exit came ‘quite late’.

Zola returned to Chelsea last summer as Sarri’s No 2, and the pair rose above criticism to guide the Blues to third place in the Premier League, Champions League qualification and glory in the Europa League.

Gianfranco Zola has left Chelsea for the second time following Frank Lampard’s appointment as manager.

It was finally confirmed on Thursday that Lampard had returned to Chelsea, replacing Maurizio Sarri after his move to Juventus.

That has left Zola without a job after the Englishman decided to bring in his own backroom staff.

Voted the Blues’ greatest-ever player in 2003, the former Italy attacker was brought in as Sarri’s assistant last season.

Official: Higuain leaves Chelsea

Chelsea have announced that Gonzalo Higuain has left the club after they opted not to retain the Juventus striker.

A statement on Chelsea’s official website confirmed Higuain, along with four other players, had departed after their contracts expired on Sunday.

The Argentine arrived from Milan in January, the Blues taking over the Rossoneri’s loan deal, which included a €9m option of another season or a permanent transfer for €36m.

Despite winning the Europa League, however, he scored just five goals in all competitions.
