Khedira refusing to quit Juventus

Sami Khedira is reportedly refusing to terminate his Juventus contract early unless he receives the full remaining salary.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 33-year-old has no intention of leaving Turin before his deal expires, which is in June 2021.

There is also an option to extend for a further season after that, an agreement penned in September 2018.

Juve have been able to cut their losses by releasing Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi early, both going on to join MLS club Inter Miami.

Man City end Koulibaly pursuit

Manchester City have reportedly informed Napoli they are no longer interested in Kalidou Koulibaly after spending €53m plus Nicolas Otamendi on Ruben Dias.

The Senegal international had been Pep Guardiola’s number one target in defence for several years, but this summer was the closest they came to a deal.

Despite Napoli declaring they were open to a sale, Manchester City never reached the asking price of at least €75-80m.

PSG and Arsenal ask after Jorginho?

Telefoot Chaine in France claim that PSG and Arsenal are interested in signing Italy international Jorginho on loan from Chelsea.

It seems an unlikely turn of events, especially as the Blues wanted at least €50m when Juventus attempted to get the midfielder for then-coach Maurizio Sarri last season.

Telefoot correspondent Saber Desfarges insists Arsenal at the favourites, which would seem even more implausible, considering they are London rivals.

Lazio in for Draxler?

Lazio are being linked with Paris Saint-Germain attacker Julian Draxler, who seems set to leave the French champions.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims Lazio, who are on the verge of closing a deal with Wesley Hoedt for the defence, could make a move for PSG winger Draxler this week.

The newspaper reports PSG have also offered the player to Inter, Milan and Rome, as they ask for €15m in return.

But the real obstacle for Lazio will be the German’s salary in Paris, where he makes €7m a season.

The sky's the limit for Atalanta

La Dea have maintained the core of the side that drew plaudits both at home and abroad last season, and Owen Diana believes they can do even better in 2020-21.

The dawn of a new campaign is always exciting for any football fan, but that is especially true when your team has resided in dreamland for the last two years. Consecutive third-placed finishes and a trip to the Champions League quarter-finals were unprecedented for Atalanta, but they seem well placed to follow up those historic feats with further success in 2020-21. Finishing in the top four and reaching the knockout stages in Europe’s premier cup competition should be the minimum aim. However, a tilt at domestic and continental glory is not out of the question.

There is some hope for the Bianconeri, as Sky Sport in Germany claims PSG are interested in picking up the veteran.

Khedira has a good rapport with coach Thomas Tuchel and would bring valuable experience to the squad.

PSG leapfrog Man City for Koulibaly

PSG are preparing to raise their bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and are now the favourites ahead of Manchester City, according to The Telegraph.

The online version of the English newspaper claims that Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer up to €80m for the centre-back.

That would meet the original asking price and see him brought in as a replacement for Thiago Silva.

The 29-year-old Senegal international was placed on the market by President Aurelio De Laurentiis, as long as they received ‘the right price’ for his sale.
