Cosenza sign ex-Newcastle striker

Serie B side Cosenza have signed former Newcastle United and Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere on a free transfer.

Riviere joins Cosenza on a contract until the end of the season, having been without a club since leaving French club Metz over the summer.

The 29-year-old scored 17 goals in 50 games for Monaco between 2012 and 2014, helping them finish second in Ligue 1 under Claudio Ranieri.

He then joined Newcastle but scored just one Premier League goal for the Magpies and later played for Osasuna in La Liga before returning to France with Metz.

Lazaar leaves Newcastle for Cosenza

Newcastle United left-back Achraf Lazaar has officially joined Serie B side Cosenza on a season-long loan.

Lazaar was surplus to requirements at Newcastle after just 10 appearances in three seasons and spent time on loan at Benevento and Sheffield Wednesday.

Despite his recent struggles, the 27-year-old caught the eye in Italian football with Varese and Palermo and has 17 caps for Morocco.

He moves to a Cosenza side who finished 10th in Serie B last season.

He has also been linked with Lecce and Serie B outfit Frosinone.

According to TyC Sports reporter Cesar Luis Merlo, Colidio is set for a one-season loan in Belgium with Sint-Truiden.

There will be no option to buy, as Inter believe the former Boca Juniors talent can become a sensation.

However, the Czech turned down the Magpies because his ‘desire’ is to join Dortmund.

The Germans have long been linked with the 23-year-old, whose face has not quite fit at Roma.

Newcastle or Bordeaux for Borini?

Fabio Borini could be headed for Newcastle United or Bordeaux as Milan look to shift his €2.5m salary.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, Borini has no place in Marco Giampaolo’s plans for Milan.

The 28-year-old joined the Rossoneri from Sunderland in 2017 and has gone on to play 73 times for the club, with his loan becoming permanent for €5.5m last summer.

Despite being an attacker, he has scored just eight goals in his two seasons at San Siro and was even tried out at full-back by Gennaro Gattuso.

Gattuso on Newcastle shortlist?

Gennaro Gattuso and Jose Mourinho are among the Coaches with the shortest odds to replace Rafa Benitez as Newcastle United’s next manager.

It was announced on Monday that Benitez would be leaving Newcastle after three-and-a-half years, the former Napoli boss having failed to agree a new contract with the Premier League side.

Gattuso was linked with the Magpies in April and Oddschecker has him down at 14/1, given he is currently out of work after departing Milan.
