Curci slams Karius

Former Roma goalkeeper Gianluca Curci slams his ex teammate Loris Karius - “not even my nine-year-old son could justify that mistake”.

The Liverpool goalkeeper made two howlers in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, throwing the ball of Karim Benzema and in, before dropping Gareth Bale’s shot into the back of his own net.

“I was his backup,” Curci recalled of his time at Mainz, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

Sarri enters Abramovich trap

In some ways, Maurizio Sarri is the ideal Coach for Roman Abramovich's Chelsea, but Daryl Hammond worries he won't get the time to prove it.

Since buying Chelsea in 2003, Russian Oligarch Roman Abramovich has longed for three things. Success in England, success in Europe, and to do it all playing attractive football.

Several millions later, he cracked the code to the Premier League title in two years, and has won 15 domestic trophies during his tenure. And they conquered Europe against all odds, beating Bayern to win the Champions League in 2012 and the Europa League a year later. But through all that success, his sides have never been the most stylish.

Collina: ‘Oliver was right’

UEFA referee designator Pierluigi Collina insists Real Madrid’s penalty against Juventus was “correctly given” by Michael Oliver.

The Bianconeri were incensed when the English official pointed to the spot in the last minute of their Champions League quarter-final second leg, with the tie poised at 3-3 on aggregate.

Gianluigi Buffon was sent off, and later claimed the referee didn’t have the experience to cope with a game of that magnitude.

“It was a penalty correctly given,” Collina told the Daily Telegraph.

CL: Real nightmare for Karius

Real Madrid won the Champions League for the third year running thanks to a Gareth Bale brace and comically awful Loris Karius performance for Liverpool.

Zinedine Zidane and his Merengues make history with a third consecutive Champions League triumph and used the exact same starting XI that beat Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff two years ago, benching Gareth Bale.

It was a very aggressive start in Kiev from Jurgen Klopp’s side, with a series of shots charged down, while Cristiano Ronaldo blasted just over from a tricky angle.
