‘Sean Cox is a fighter’

The family of Sean Cox, the Liverpool fan who was attacked by Roma ultras, says he ‘remains in critical condition’ but is a ‘fighter’.

Cox was brutally attacked by two ultras outside Anfield before Roma’s 5-2 defeat in the Champions League semi-finals last month, and the Irishman’s family gave an update on his condition.

“As a family we have been overwhelmed and humbled by the support we have received since Sean was so badly hurt two weeks ago,” read a statement.

Gianluigi Buffon admits “this has been an emotionally complicated year” for his career, Italy and Juventus. “I haven’t figured out if I’m more strong or scummy. We’ll see.”

The Coppa Italia Final is in Rome on Wednesday at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

“It has certainly been an emotionally complicated year, that is undeniable, because it started too early to then have to strength to deal with everything that happened rationally,” said the goalkeeper in his Press conference.

Ausilio: ‘Delighted with Spalletti’

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio assures “we’re delighted” with Luciano Spalletti and “I don’t think there’ll be a problem” with his renewal.

The Coach is out of contract at the end of next season, and there has been speculation that he could be fired if the Nerazzurri fail to qualify for the Champions League.
