Pjaca set for immediate return

Juventus loanee Marko Pjaca looks set to return from Brussels this summer, after only appearing four times since moving to Anderlecht in January.

The 25-year-old was loaned out to the Belgian for the remainder of the season, when Juventus chose to send the Croatian on another temporary spell, despite concrete interest from Cagliari in Serie A.

The Bianconeri unexpectedly renewed his contract at the Allianz Stadium until June 2023, highlighting their faith in the former Croatia international.

Anderlecht return Pjaca to Juventus

Marko Pjaca is returning to Juventus yet again after Belgian reports RSC Anderlecht are not taking up their option to extend the loan.

The 25-year-old was a huge promise of Croatian football when he was signed from Dinamo Zagreb in 2016 for €23m, but a series of devastating injuries left his career floundering.

Loan spells at Schalke 04, Fiorentina and now Anderlecht have failed to generate regular playing time or consistency.

He moved to Anderlecht on loan in January 2020 with an option to extend that for another season.

The right midfielder has played twice in Serie A for the Diavolo after his move from the Jupiler Pro League this winter and his contract at Anderlecht expires in June 2022.

Milan won't keep Saelemaekers

Milan are unlikely to take up their option to buy Alexis Saelemaekers from Anderlecht, so have spent €3.5m on so far just 32 minutes of football.

The 20-year-old right-sided winger was signed in January on loan for €3.5m with option to buy for another €3.5m.

However, he made only three appearances for the Rossoneri – two in Serie A and one in the Coppa Italia – as a substitute, for a grand total of 32 minutes on the pitch.

According to Calciomercato.com, a decision has already been made not to buy Saelemaekers outright.

Milan gamble on Saelemaekers

Milan are taking a risk with the transfer of Alexis Saelemaekers, gambling on the Belgian’s obvious potential, writes Vincent Van Genechten.

It hasn’t been the season of Anderlecht following their youth revival behind club legend Vincent Kompany, who left Manchester City after 11 years to return to his home country. ‘Vince the Prince’ runs the show at his former club, trying to copy the success of the Citizens using their offensive minded football while giving huge minutes to home-grown youngsters.
