Seven points from Inter's 7-0

After another 7-0 destruction of Sassuolo, Varun Mathure discusses seven points for Inter fans to mull over in the afterglow of their victory.

Mauro Icardi

The Argentinean scored his first hat-trick in Nerazzurri colours with three quite distinct strikes. The first goal was scrappy, the second superbly placed and the third a typical poacher’s finish. The 21-year-old has scored six goals in four games this season, and if he is able to keep his form and fitness, he could well and truly be a menace for Inter’s opponents.

A role for Guarin at Inter?

Despite looking set to quit the club in recent months, Fredy Guarin remains at Inter. Varun Mathure wonders if the Colombian still has a role to play.

The international break gave Italian sides a long time to reflect on their opening day showings, as domestic football was off for two weeks. Among the sides who have had a few things to contemplate are Inter.

The Nerazzurri started their season with a 0-0 draw at Torino where they struggled to create many goalscoring opportunities, and transfer deadline day passed by without any significant ins and outs. One player who seemed almost out, only to return, was Fredy Guarin.

Guarin never wanted Juve move

Fredy Guarin has reiterated his love for Inter after his expected summer exit never materialised.

The Colombian remained with the Nerazzurri after, for the second transfer session in a row, he was heavily linked with an exit.

“Here at Inter, I feel like I’m on the moon,” the midfielder told the Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’ve made it known in the past, I repeat it now and I’ll say it again in the future – I’m happy at Inter as this is the best place to be.

Guarin happy with Inter stay

Fredy Guarin insists he’s delighted to still be at Inter after he almost left the club for the second transfer session in a row.

The Colombian international was close to joining Juventus in January, but the Beneamata opted against completing a swap deal which would have involved Mirko Vucinic.

The attacking midfielder was then paired with the likes of Zenit, Manchester United, Benfica, Real Madrid and Valencia last month.

Inter list Campagnaro, Guarin

Hugo Campagnaro looks to have been handed a second chance at Inter, as he makes their Europa League squad.

The Argentine was expected to leave the Nerazzurri this summer, appearing not to be in Walter Mazzarri’s first-team plans.

However, the defender has now been included in the team’s Europa League group stage squad, submitted this week to UEFA.

Inter also include summers signings Yann M’Vila, Gary Medel, Dani Osvaldo, Nemanja Vidic and Dodo.

WM: Guarin didn’t want to go

Walter Mazzarri is happy to work again with Fredy Guarin and says the player did not want to leave Inter anyway.

The midfielder was heavily linked with a move away during the summer, but late talks with Valencia broke down on deadline day and he is now back in the Nerazzurri’s plans.

“He is a player of a certain level, if he does not find what he wants at Inter then it is no problem,” Mazzarri has told reporters this week, as quoted by calcionews24.
