UEFA approves Nations League

Italy will compete in a new Nations League after UEFA approved the format for the competition today.

The new tournament will replace most international friendlies, and will be played between September and November 2018.

The 52 UEFA members will be split into four divisions, each containing four groups of either three or four teams. Each UEFA member will play six matches. Four teams are promoted and four relegated from Divisions B, C and D.

Croatia fans 'wanted to stop game'

“The objective of the Croatia fans was to suspend the game and UEFA are convinced of that too,” claim the FIGC.

Sunday’s Euro 2016 qualifier at San Siro was halted for 10 minutes due to persistent throwing of flares and fireworks from the Croatia supporters.

UEFA investigating Italy, Croatia

UEFA have confirmed that they have opened disciplinary proceedings against Italy and Croatia for disturbances during their Euro 2016 qualifier.

Sunday’s eventual 1-1 draw at San Siro was halted for 10 minutes during the second half when sections of the travelling Croat support launched flares and fireworks on to the playing surface.

Fassone: FFP ruling in spring

Inter director general Marco Fassone has discussed the club’s Financial Fair Play hearing, and expects a final decision by next spring.

Inter are one of seven clubs being investigated for a potential breach of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and have representatives in Nyon today to meet with UEFA.

FIFA extends Tavecchio sanction

FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio has had his UEFA suspension for racist remarks extended to include all FIFA jurisdiction.

Tavecchio was given a six-month ban from holding any positions in UEFA in October following remarks made during his candidacy to succeed Giancarlo Abete as President of the Italian Football Federation.

UEFA adjust CSKA punishment

UEFA partially uphold CSKA Moscow’s appeal against sanctions imposed following their fans’ behaviour during the Champions League game in Rome.

The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body had ordered on October 3 that CSKA play their next three UEFA competition matches at home behind closed doors due to racist behaviour of their supporters, crowd disturbances, and the setting off/throwing of fireworks and missiles by their supporters.

UEFA discipline Serbia, Albania

UEFA have confirmed disciplinary action following the clashes that disrupted and prematurely ended Serbia’s Euro 2016 qualifier with Albania.

The match in Belgrade on October 14 was abandoned midway through, following a clash between the two sets of players and supporter trouble in the stands.

A stunt involving a remote-controlled drone flying political flag over the pitch ignited political tension between the two countries dating back to the 1998-99 Kosovo War.
