Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani sent a clear message to under-fire coach Stefano Pioli just two months ahead of the summer.

The 58-year-old Rossoneri coach has been targeted by much criticism from fans and pundits over the last six months, with many complaining about the team’s poor Champions League campaign and inability to keep up with rivals and league leaders Inter.

Whilst a long list of possible options have been floated as replacements for Pioli, Milan still haven’t made a final decision regarding the coach’s future yet, leaving much in doubt as the final two months of the season approach.

Furlani message to Pioli

Speaking as part of a long interview with la Gazzetta dello Sport, Furlani sent a clear message to Pioli regarding his future at Milan.

“Our season has been good so far, but like last year there was another team that went beyond expectations. Yesterday Napoli, today Inter. Pioli has a decidedly positive history at Milan, he brought the team back to the Champions League and won the Scudetto.

“He is often criticized but he has achieved important results. No one from the club has ever spoken about his position being at risk. Now it would be ungenerous to evaluate him based on the future path in the Europa League or the outcome of the derby, however important it is.”

Pioli seemed frustrated regarding all the talks surrounding his future at Milan when speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Fiorentina, confirming that he’d reveal his plans once the season concludes.
