La Liga wants Ronaldo back

La Liga President Javier Tebas admits ‘I’d like Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Spain’, even if he expected the forward’s move to Juventus ‘to hurt more’.

Ronaldo’s record-breaking goal return for Real Madrid and rivalry with Barcelona’s Lionel Messi helped raise the profile of La Liga, both commercially and in the Champions League.

“I thought his departure would hurt more, but I prefer a League with CR7 than one without,” Tebas told Canal 11.

‘Very happy’ Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has confirmed that talks are under way over a new contract.

Fabian has grown into Marek Hamsik’s heir since joining Napoli from Real Betis for €30m last summer, although he could not prevent a 4-3 defeat to Juventus at the weekend.

“Naples is a big city and everyone supports the team,” the 23-year-old told Marca.

“You can see it every day on the streets. Neapolitans love Napoli and football.

Juve beat Man Utd on Instagram

Juventus have surpassed Manchester United to become the third most popular football club on Instagram, behind Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Work on increasing brand recognition and signing big names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt paid off, as their Instagram followers have sky-rocketed.

The Bianconeri had around 10m followers in July 2018, but have just hit 31m, largely thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s 131m fans.

It allowed Juve to overtake Manchester United and become the third most followed football club on Instagram in the world.

James to Napoli all-but-off

James Rodriguez’s proposed move to Napoli is all-but-off after the Real Madrid midfielder suffered a calf injury.

James was a surprise starter for Madrid as they laboured to a 1-1 draw with Real Valladolid at the weekend.

However, the Colombian lasted just 57 minutes and Los Blancos announced on Monday that he picked up an injury to his right calf.

The injury is the 16th in the last three years for Rodriguez, which may explain their insistence on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Zidane: 'Happy if James stays'

Napoli transfer target James Rodriguez starts for Real Madrid today, as Zinedine Zidane would “be happy if he stayed.”

The Colombia international had been on the outskirts of the squad after returning from a two-season loan at Bayern Munich.

Atletico Madrid and Napoli were interested, but preferred a discount on the €42m asking price, or a loan with option to buy structure.

With other injuries, James climbed up the ranking and impressed the Coach in training, enough to be in the starting XI against Real Valladolid this evening.
