Report: Joao Mario rejects Watford

Joao Mario has reportedly rejected a move to Watford as the Inter midfielder waits for a club that play in European competition.

According to Calciomercato, Inter must balance the books if deals for Rafinha, Ramires and Lisandro Lopez go through.

Joao Mario has long been linked with an exit from San Siro, and Watford would have offered to bring him in permanently.

However, the website notes the Portuguese turned down the proposal, even if he is “not 100 percent convinced” by another from Vincenzo Montella’s Sevilla.

Peres talks with Benfica

Roma have reportedly sent emissaries to negotiate for a Bruno Peres sale to Benfica, as they are favourites ahead of Galatasaray.

According to Il Messaggero and A Bola, the Giallorossi have one of their representatives in Lisbon this weekend to discuss the terms.

Peres has struggled for playing time and made too many defensive errors in Coach Eusebio Di Francesco’s 4-3-3 formation.

Okaka holds out for ‘great’ Torino

Stefano Okaka has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Torino and Coach Walter Mazzarri. “They’re a great team and I’ve always enjoyed working with him.”

Okaka has made just two starts for Watford this season, and the former Sampdoria striker made it clear he hoped to reunite with Mazzarri at Torino before the end of January.

“I just want to play,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Torino hold Mazzarri talks

Torino will hold further talks with Walter Mazzarri today, reports suggest, as he prepares to replace Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The Serbian Coach will be sacked later today, but Primavera Coach Federico Coppitelli doesn’t have a UEFA Pro Licence, so a replacement has to be appointed before Saturday’s Bologna game.

It’s widely expected that man will be Mazzarri, and Gianluca Di Marzio’s website reports that further talks will take place later today.

The Coach will be offered a contract until June 2020, which should be agreed today.

Fiorentina look to Capoue

Fiorentina have asked Watford for midfielder Etienne Capuoe after Galatasaray made an approach for Ianis Hagi.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Viola are interested in the 29-year-old, who can also play as a centre-back when needed.

He joined Watford from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2015 for €9m and is under contract until June 2019.

This season Capoue has contributed two goals in 11 competitive games for the Hornets, also catching the eye of Spanish club Leganes.

Sevilla choose Montella

Sevilla have chosen Vincenzo Montella as their new Coach and are in talks with Milan to terminate his contract, claim Italian reports.

The club sensationally sacked Eduardo Berizzo three days before Christmas and a week after he returned to work following cancer treatment.

It was reported this morning that Sevilla directors flew out to Italy for a meeting with ex-Watford, Inter and Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri.

Walter Mazzarri is an option for the Sevilla bench, according to several Italian reports, and already held a meeting with the Liga side.

Los Rojiblancos are without a Coach right now, as they incredibly sacked Eduardo Berizzo three days before Christmas – and a week after he returned to work following cancer surgery.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Corriere della Sera and more, Mazzarri had a meeting with Sevilla sporting director Oscar Arias when he flew to Italy on Boxing Day.

Agent: ‘Okaka wants to play’

Stefano Okaka’s agent says the striker could leave Watford to get more playing time, with offers from Spain, England, France and Italy.

The 28-year-old has played just 64 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, and could move on in January.

“Okaka wants to play,” his agent and brother, Carlo, told Tuttomercatoweb.

“He started the first game, he scored against Liverpool and was man of the match. He got into the team of the week alongside [Romelu] Lukaku.

Report: Watford line up Ventura

Watford have reportedly lined up former Italy CT Giampiero Ventura if Marco Silva leaves for Everton.

According to Tuttosport, Ventura is “the hot name” for Watford in the event Silva departs, with Everton having offered in excess of €13m to buy out the Portuguese’s contract.

The 68-year-old was sacked after his failure to lead Italy to the World Cup, but he worked under the Hornets’ owners – the Pozzo family – at Udinese during the 2001-02 campaign.

‘Mazzarri to Milan a fantasy’

Walter Mazzarri’s agent describes rumours linking his client to the Milan job as ‘fantasy.’

The former Inter, Napoli and Watford Coach is one of the names to have been mentioned as a possible replacement for Vincenzo Montella, who has come under heavy recent pressure in the Rossoneri hotseat.

However, in an interview with Tuttomercato, Andrea D’Amico insisted no contact has been made between the San Siro club and Mazzarri.
