Sabatini denies Roma return

Bologna director Walter Sabatini has denied reports he is in the running for a return to Roma. ‘Although I love the fans, I am entirely focused on this role.’

There’s a revolution going on within the Giallorossi camp after Dan Friedkin agreed a takeover from President James Pallotta.

A director of sport is needed at the Stadio Olimpico and some reports pointed to a return for Sabatini.

Henry pays Bologna visit

Montreal Impact coach Thierry Henry is at the Stadio Dall’Ara today to watch Bologna and inspect their facilities with President Joey Saputo.

Canadian-Italian businessman Saputo owns both the MLS and Serie A clubs, who have been known to exchange players.

Henry flew in this morning and was greeted at the Stadio Dall’Ara by Bologna director Marco Di Vaio.

He will be able to observe this afternoon’s Serie A match between Bologna and Atalanta.

Henry spent six months in Italy playing for Juventus in 1999.

Bologna: Impact sign Bojan

Former Roma and Milan forward Bojan Krkic has officially joined Bologna’s sister club Montreal Impact.

Bojan has signed a one-year contract with the Impact and moves on a free transfer after leaving Stoke City.

The 28-year-old is best known for his time at Barcelona, where he won three Spanish titles and two Champions Leagues.

He then spent two seasons in Serie A with Roma and Milan, before moving on to Ajax and then Stoke in 2014.

However, he has lost his way at the Bet365 Stadium and will now look to kick-start his career in MLS.

Bologna: Bojan set for Impact

Stoke City forward Bojan Krkic is reportedly set to sign for Bologna’s sister club Montreal Impact.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Bojan has agreed a two-year contract with the Impact.

The 28-year-old is a free agent after his Stoke deal expired and is best known for his time at Barcelona, where he won three Spanish titles and two Champions Leagues.

He then spent two seasons in Serie A with Roma and Milan, before moving on to Ajax and then the Potters in 2014.

Corradi son now free of cancer

Wonderful news for former Lazio, Chievo, Valencia, Manchester City and Montreal Impact striker Bernardo Corradi, as his son is now free of cancer.

The former Italy international and wife Elena Santarelli announced in November 2017 that their son Giacomo had been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour.

Santarelli announced via Instagram that their son, who turns 10 in July, had been given the all-clear and was now in the ‘follow-up’ stage of treatment.

Official: Okwonkwo makes Impact

It is now official that Bologna have sent striker Orji Okwonkwo on loan to MLS club the Montreal Impact.

The young Nigerian had been in talks for weeks and the deal was finally agreed today.

He will complete the move after receiving his international transfer certificate, visa and passing a medical.

“I’m satisfied in welcoming another striker to the team,” declared Impact Coach Rémi Garde on the official club website.

Okwonkwo set for Montreal Impact

Bologna forward Orji Okwonkwo is finally set for his transfer to MLS club Montreal Impact after weeks of talks.

The move had been reportedly on the verge of completion a month ago, but various issues prompted delays.

Now the Corriere di Bologna newspaper and Sportitalia television claim a deal has been struck.

It is only a loan, as both Bologna and Montreal Impact are owned by Joey Saputo.

Saputo quits Impact job for Bologna

Joey Saputo has hired Kevin Gilmore as President of the Montreal Impact, meaning he can focus more on revitalising Bologna.

The Italo-Canadian businessman owns both the MLS club and Serie A side.

“The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday the nomination of Kevin Gilmore as the club’s president and chief executive officer, allowing Joey Saputo to focus on his ownership duties,” read a statement.

“I’m proud to announce the nomination of Kevin Gilmore as president and CEO of the club,” said Joey Saputo.

Saputo: 'Bologna plan will change'

Bologna patron Joey Saputo warned “the plan must change and it will change” with strong investments to go from relegation contenders to European competition.

The Rossoblu are currently sitting in the bottom three, but have brought in Villarreal pair Nicola Sansone and Roberto Soriano.

“As we start the year, I want to assure our fans and our partners that under no uncertain terms is relegation an option for us,” said the Canadian businessman who also owns MLS club Montreal Impact in a video message.

Official: Marchisio joins Zenit

Former Juventus star Claudio Marchisio has officially signed a two-year contract for Zenit St Petersburg.

The 32-year-old was a free agent after terminating his contract with the Bianconeri by mutual consent.

Zenit are in the Europa League this season, placed in Group C with FC Kobenhavn, Bordeaux and Slavia Prague.

The Italy international is from Turin and spent practically his entire career with Juventus, coming up through their youth academy and playing for them in Serie B.

He had only a brief one-season loan spell at Empoli in 2007-08.
