Manolas leaves Greece camp

Roma defender Kostas Manolas left international duty with Greece due to an injury.

The centre-back had been due to feature in Euro 2016 qualifiers against Northern Ireland and Hungary.

Manolas was diagnosed with a trauma to the right side of his ribcage and was sent back to Rome.

However, Edin Dzeko will go out to Bosnia for international duty against Wales and Cyprus, as he has completed the rehabilitation process for a knee injury.

Manolas: ’Barça an important step’

Roma defender Kostas Manolas believes the draw with Barcelona was ‘an important step’ for the club.

The Giallorossi drew 1-1 with the holders in the Champions League on Wednesday, and the Greek international praised the tactical performance.

“We played well,” Manolas told Sky.

“Against Barcelona we played a great game on a tactical level. We’ve been doing well in defence, especially on Wednesday, and I think it’s an important step for the team.”

Pjanic: 'Totti will choose his heir'

Miralem Pjanic looks forward to winning with Roma and says Francesco Totti will choose his heir in the Number 10 jersey.

The Bosnian international replied to fan questions during their tour of Indonesia, where thousands flocked just to watch a training session.

“I would like to try and win many titles every season, helping the club to achieve this,” said Pjanic.

“It’s not easy, as there are strong teams in Serie A. Playing in the Champions League every year is fundamental. The objective for next season is to win something.

Arsenal and Spurs seek Manolas

Tottenham and Arsenal are showing an interest in Roma’s Greek defender Kostas Manolas.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the two North London clubs have targeted the 24-year-old centre-back.

Manolas only joined the Giallorossi last year from Olympiacos in a deal worth €13m plus a further €2m in bonuses.

He was a regular in the side last season, making 41 appearances between Serie A, Champions League, Europa League and Coppa Italia.

However, Manolas also received two straight red cards.

Summer overhaul at Roma

Roma are set to overhaul their squad this summer but Juventus target Radja Nainggolan reportedly wants to stay in the capital.

The Old Lady are believed to have set their sights on Nainggolan and his compatriot Axel Witsel as possible replacements for Paul Pogba.

However, the Corriere dello Sport believes the midfielder has told his friends that he isn’t interested in a move to Turin after heated exchanges with Juve fans on social media earlier this season.

Manolas agent: ’Arsenal? Ask Roma…’

The agent of Roma defender Kostas Manolas is not interested in discussing rumoured Arsenal interest.

Reports in the Italian media have linked the Greek centre-back with a move to the English Premier League side, but his agent says any suitors would have to speak to Roma first.

“Ask [Roma sporting director Walter] Sabatini if there’s genuine interest,” Ioannis Evangelopoulos told Tuttomercatoweb.

“Kostas is a Roma player, and anyone who wants him will have to ask the club. All I can say is the lad has a contract until 2019.

De Rossi and Manolas injured

Roma lost Daniele De Rossi and Kostas Manolas to injury against Fiorentina, the midfielder coming off worse.

Rudi Garcia was forced to make two substitutions in the opening 25 minutes of their Europa League tie in Florence.

De Rossi made two errors just before he was replaced and medics later explained it was because he had sprained his left ankle.

The midfielder, wearing the captain’s armband in the absence of Francesco Totti, tried to continue, but eventually had to concede he was in no condition to keep playing.
